Judge: No Bond For Driver Charged With DUI Manslaughter

November 12, 2010

A Navarre man charged with DUI manslaughter in connection with a Tuesday night wreck in Molino was ordered held without bond during his first court appearance.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, driver Terry E. Lee, 41, of Navarre was traveling on Omega Drive about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday when his Toyota car left the roadway, traveled through a wooden fence and across a pasture before hitting another fence and a tree. Lee’s passenger, Brandee N. Scott, 49, of Pensacola, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She was reportedly impaled by a wooden board from the fence.

Lee, who was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital following the crash, reportedly told Florida Highway Patrol troopers that he was not involved in the crash.

Terry Eugene Lee, 41, is facing charges of DUI manslaughter, DUI property damage, no driver’s license, driving with license suspended resulting in death, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

    To Cody and Tara,

Please don’t fight on here. Both of you are in a lot of pain right now and
you will say things that one day you will understand and regret.

Take it from someone who is much much older.
It may feel good to vent….but don’t verbally bash each other on here.
Your both really children, SO HURT, AND IT MAKES MY HEART ACHE.

Cody we get how you feel, we hear you, but there is no one at fault here
but the driver. Brandee is dead! She is not and will never be here to defend
    herself. STOP!

Tara my heart bleeds for you….take heart hon….it will get better….easier….
but you will always feel pain….
I lost my mother when I was 27. She wasn’t the best mother a girl ever had,
but who is…Nobody is perfect….SHE was my mother and I felt her loss like no other…

Hugs to you hon.. I get it…I hope you have an aunt or someone who can
pick up the slack for you and will let you vent and feel your pain….and hug you.
Sometimes it takes a woman to know how to heal a childs hurt.

    Hugs sweetie
    From my family to yours.

The most he will get for his stupid and selfish decision is 15 yrs … So he will get out of his prison and his family will be able to talk to him and see him during this time. BUT Brandee will never get out…. Her family will never see her talk to her , touch her , hear her laugh, cry …see her smile … Grandchildren will not get to know their grandmother….Nope none of this will happen for them or her. And as far as ppl learning… It won’t happen. We have billboards in pace of Shana and Pearl…. Billboards of Lisa and Meagan I don’t know of any other way to get it through to ppl… Drinking and driving kills! Just don’t do it ..get a cab call a friend …do something. Dosent matter if she was drunk too..as some ppl have said on here …I don’t know if she was or not …. Sorry … He made the decision to drive and drink …

prayers for both of the families, but lets face it…..NO ONE WAS THERE BUT THEM TWO. Neither families know what happened and why because obviously YOU WERE NOT THERE AND I WASN’T EITHER. God has reasons for everything and to tara: god never puts anything on your shoulders that you can’t bear, it will hurt for a long time but be strong.

Cody your post 2nd post is what someone else wrote who knows them both so obviously there is a reason she couldnt drive….its sad that our law system doesnt work when it comes to repeat offenders who drink and drive and in most cases it takes someone getting killed before anyone wakes up however; he did have warrents it was just a matter of catching him. Now, lets think about what we all have done as teenagers or even adults….im sure most have drove drunk before and realized the next day that wasnt such a good idea. The problem with alcohol is it alters your mind so most of the time everyone ALWAYS thinks they are fine to do anything and when your an alcoholic you tend to not realize how much you really had to drink b/c it takes so much to get you drunk. They both are at fault here! You shouldnt get into a car with a drunk driver just as well as you shouldnt be driving drunk. Now this doesnt mean that my heart doesnt go out to both parties because all around its a VERY SAD situation. He has to live what he did for the rest of his life and we ALL have a day we are going to die and a way we are going to die. This was a freak accident. Many blessing to Brandees Scott family

ok i cant even begin to say how sorry i am for what my uncle has done i wish i could contact her family but as much as they hurt we hurt also we will never see him outside again ……. i personaly feel that he should not be on the outside for a long time or even ever …it will be a long time befor he realizes what he has taken away and GOD will show him ..but please remember we all have demons that we have to over come ….he needs to be locked up because he cant do it on his own.GOD put Jonah in a whales belly because he wouldnt listen and thats what Terry is goin to have to understand his behavor and very bad choices have brought him here and now all her family and his will suffer because of his GOOD TIMES and he will answer for that now and at the end again i am so very very sorry i know his heart and when he can clearly understand what he has done he will forever remember and it wont go away as his family wont let him forget …. NO ONE WINS

I never argue, just disagree sometimes and request enlightenment at others. Age doesn’t matter, I know people who are older than their uncles. I’ve also seen lots of folks who never grow up and children who are far more mature. I’m not even interested in placing fault here even though I have fairly strong suspicions. I WOULD like to find ways to decrease such incidents so fewer would be forced to suffer but that seems unlikely. Still…..it’s a worthwhile goal.

    David for a better world

Don’t read this stuff about your uncle till your old enough to understand
the problem ppl have right now with him.
All you know is you care about him
    .
HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO IS AT FAULT HERE!t

David ….read that post again…i believe your arguing with a very young child.

Please tell us what her two wrongs were

  14. cody on November 13th, 2010 12:38 pm

okay this was my uncle and i have seen him do alot of dumb stuff and this would be by far the worst but you can say you have done stuff over and over and like it sayd iin the bible if you break a rule such as stealing gum or murder its the same in gods eyes so all im saying is that we should forgive him and he should forgive himself. my prayers and my familys prayers go out to the family that this happpend to. i dont know anything about her or her family but i do know that god was the one that chose her to get into that car. i think he should do time but not life he just need evaluation he needs help and he will be just like everyone else.
i will help out her family anyways that i can, and my family can. i dont think that he was in the right state of mind and he did do wrong but it says two wrongs dont make it right. he did two wrongs but so did she and the police. just pray for my uncle and the family of brandee scott

    REGARDING:
“And what cha bet we the people will pay for his defense? This system we have just doesn’t make sense”

We find individual cases in which we are less favorable to it but the basic concept is valid. A person accused of a crime does not know the ins and outs of the legal system. As such, without help, the innocent will wind up jailed along with the guilty–whereas the guilty will still face judgment. Since we don’t technically know who is guilty until after a jury decides, everybody needs legal representation. If they can not afford legal representation, they are not assured justice.

It sounds like it’s far afield but part of the problem we had after our conquest of Iraq and Afghanistan was that we did not provide for settling disputes and judging crimes. As a result even Taliban seems better to some than a system of bribery through the official system. Consider the result: lawlessness, murder, civil war, unstable governments–including Pakistan with it‘s nuclear arsenal, Americans where we don‘t want to be, much cost to us.

Without justice, we would quickly go the same way. Consider how people act who can not go through the legal system to settle disputes.

    It’s worth it.

David for domestic tranquility and justice

Wasn’t involved with the crash? wonder why he ended up in the hospital? They say enough alcohol will fry your brain.Wonder how long he will mantain his innocence? And what cha bet we the people will pay for his defense? This system we have just doesnt make sense. He was driving ,he wrecked the car, passenger dies. Why does he need a hearing? No doubt he is guily. At least the judge kept him locked up to dry out.Next time we see him he will be all cleaned up in a suit provided by our tax money and looking like a respectable member of society.I have always thought the person should appear in front of the jury looking like they did when they were arrested!

I bet he doesn’t remember being involved

If they had more troopers and deputies in Molino, maybe they could have stopped this guy before he killed his passenger. I hear that both are short on officers in this area.

Yep … Figures … And he lives she dies…. He should have never been allowed to be out of jail to begin with …he is a repeat offender….look hardly a scratch … Why is it they walk away. Happens all the time …. Nothing but a druggie and alcoholic… He will get at least 15 yrs locked up … she gets forever 49….
    Praying for the families
