November 24, 2010

A manhunt turned up empty Wednesday evening for a local man wanted on a felony failure to appear warrant.

Deputies searched over two hours for a suspect identified as Tabarin Oneil Wesley, 30, by Chris Welborn, public information officer for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Wesley was described as being a black male, last seen wearing a red shirt and blue shorts with no shoes.

The manhunt was centered around Showalter Park and the old Century Elementary School.

A bail bondsman reported to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office about 4:50 Wednesday afternoon that he had located Wesley in Showalter Park. The bail bondman gave chase and last reported seeing Wesley as he scaled a fence behind the school.

A K-9 unit from Century Correctional Institution arrived in the area bout 5:30 p.m. to assist in the search. The search was called off about 7:15 p.m.

Anyone that knows the whereabouts of Wesley should call the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620.

wats up with the racism thing man… I like blacks and white.. I see no different. It just kills me when ppl throw the racism thing in it. I mean im black and i date white girls. I love white girls. I mean dnt get me wrong i love black girld also. But it shouldnt be about the color of ur skin. Everybody is the same. We are all human beings. I see no color.

Melvin…….are you serious or just trying to get a rise out of everyone? I really don’t understand your comments….Racism exists because people balck and white won’t let it go…why is it that everytime a black person gets arrested, it’s because he or she is “black?”, white, red, yellow or black will be arrested if they violate the law….so sick of the race card being thrown, all black pagents, all black schools, but if a white does not include a black in pagents , or schools or jobs, they are being racist….everything always comes back to that….Most people alive today were not involved in what happened all those years ago…now it’s just an excuse because you have nothing else to bargain with!!!!!!! Just sayin…

Hey…thanks for cleaning the spelling up…we all can spell correctly, regardless of our color.

Racism – schmacism – more blacks are in jail because more blacks commit crimes. Look up the stats. “Good” black or white young men don’t run from the cops.

And you are right, Melvin, about racism still existing in 2010, sounds like you’re very predjudiced against whites.

I worked in the school system and there were more black racsist students than white.

What we should remember is there are bad and good in all races. Racism is taught to children by parents and grandparents. That cycle has to be broken!

This guy walked through our yard past my wife and three kids. And yet they cant find him. My wife tried to tell the cop where he went and he told her to get inside. Bunch of crap.

MELVIN – really? I guess that society should just look the other way when someone willingly breaks the law? What if Tabarin Oneil Wesley decide that he wants to break into your house just to hide from the WHITE police. It sounds to me that you are the one that has an issue with race. If not then you would have simply stated “Police” instead of “White Police”. It is not about black, white, yellow, red, it is simply due to the fact that he CHOSE to break the law. I do know for a fact that there are people of every race that are incarcerated. But YOU apparently want to make this an issue about race, so WHO REALLY HAS AN ISSUE WITH RACISM?

Black, white, red, yellow…I just wish you folks would learn how to spell…

Hey Melvin. How about the young black male who turned him self in today on a murder charge? The victim (Michell) was a young black male and appears to have been an innocent victim. How does the “white devil” fit into this? If you want to help ALL PEOPLE— help to rid the streets of the drugs the young are taking. When a young black woman will sell her body for a hit of crack or a young male rob some one for their next fix—this is where a big part of the problem is. Young blacks who can not find a job because they can not read or write. Help solve some of the problems before pointing the RACE FINGER AT WHITES.

Just tired- I agree NOTHING is owed! Now if the rest of society would realize it. But having a little more interaction with the court system than just sitting in, I have to say your first comments are truly your biased opinion.

    Melvin…
you have a heart condition my dear brother…what I hear you saying is that black men are innocent…white men are guilty. maybe in the 60’s brother…that’s all over. Please search your heart…you know whats wrong with America Melvin…you only see and have one view. You need to forgive AND forget. I have gotten over my feelings that were harbored up. Believe me..its a lot better Yes there is something wrong with black America…yes there is something wrong with white America..but thoughts like you have certainly does not make either one better…read the MLK speech again and think about what he said.

Melvin I have to agree somewhat with your analysis, at least the racism part, but it happens mostly in the courtroom. I have sit in on court proceedings and if you think for one minute that racism doesn’t exist in our courts, then you must be from a different planet. You can have two people, one white and one black, who have committed practically the same offense, and I can garauntee you that the white one will get the lesser sentence. I think it’s so automatic, that the judges are not even aware of the difference they’re making. If anyone has an interest in our court system, feel free to go and just sit in on court proceedings. And one more thing, to DAGB, no one owes anyone anything for what was done in the years past, because everyone who took part in what happened in the past will give in account for what they did when they stand before our MAKER!

    Ref. to Melvin
Not such a good black young man if the law is chasing him to begin with, ( He has done something wrong). Your black men are destroying themselves with the choices they make. The prisons are overcrowded with them because guess what — They were found guilty of the crime they committed. As far as racism existing in 2010, you bet your tail it does. Its alive from Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the rest that still thinks the white man owes them something from years past. Do I think it will ever go away, not a chance the card is too easy to pull.

Oh please! Bail bondsmen don’t care what color you are!! Aren’t
there black law enforcment officers? You need a new excuse ….this one is old!

  17. bama boy on November 24th, 2010 6:56 pm

Hmmm Melvin I dont think the color of his skin has anything to do with why he is being chased by the police….Maybe because he has a warrant out for his arrest!!
And the devil has nothing to do with someone having a willful choice to break the law.

  18. angie on November 24th, 2010 6:33 pm

Thank you william. I locked my door and got my gun……

  19. MELVIN on November 24th, 2010 6:31 pm

Another good black young man being chased down by the police. The devil just wants to kill, steal and destroy our young black men and the white police are the willing parties to get the job done. The prisons are over crowded as it is with enough of our young black men. Somewhere this cycle has to stop. Racism still does exist in the year 2010.
