The Chiefs jumped out to an early 7-0 lead with 6:35 to go in the first quarter on a 66-yard pass from quarterback Brandon Sheets to Dustin Yuhasz and a good point after kick from Lance Bushaw.

About two minutes later, the Bulldogs answered with a 49-yard touchdown pass, but the kick missed the uprights. Northview held a 7-6 advantage headed into the second.

The second quarter would see only the Bulldogs scoring, including an 11-yard pass and a 25-yard run. The third quarter was a scoreless defensive battle.

In the fourth quarter, Freeport struck again with a 15-yard run and good kick. The Chiefs’ LaMikal Kyles scored on the final play of the game with a 6-yard pass from Sheets with no time on the clock.

With the win, Freeport took the top spot in District 1-A with a 5-0 district record. The Northview Chiefs are now 4-1 in the district, 5-1 overall. Vernon is also 4-1 in the district.

The Northview Chiefs will be at home against the 0-6 Jay Royals next Friday night.

I love how every one says what they should have done when most of you do not know how to hold a football. Boys take this loss as a wake up call and come out next week hungry. Play like it is your last play and have fun.

    Framer,
Did you read anything on here before you posted your comment. Actually the point was that Freeport commited several penalties they were not called on. For example, The ref threw a flag on one of our kids for a block in the back while 5 feet to his left before his flag hit the ground1 of our kids took a shot in the back 3 feet out of bounds. How do you miss that? It looks really good on video!

So no one thinks that the penalties and turnovers were the problem. You just can’t beat a team without at least splitting these 2 categories. Freeport held the ball and committed 1 penalty( late in the 4th). We must not fumble if we want to beat Vernon and make the playoffs.

Thank you keith for the update I was praying for Dustin as I pray every time for our boys. As to the other negative comments about the coaches decisions I think if you can do any better go to college get your degree and try your hand at being a coach. As I have said before we have a wonderful coaching staff and I for one give my full support. Stop being a hater. To my chiefs remember what you have accomplished so far and what you will do in the weeks ahead. This one loss takes nothing from you. You are an awesome team. Sorry I have been unable to attend the games but thank you North escambia for your excellent coverage it is what I use to keep updated. GO CHIEFS !!!!

Actually Chris there are several names for the offense we run. When I went to Tate we called it the wing t so know what your talking about before you post a comment. And as I’ve just reviewed the game film we came out in the 3rd qtr and drove down to the Freeport 5 using the Double Wing or what ever you choose to call it. Then we faced back to back to back game stealing penalties that took the TD opportunity from us! Penalties and mistakes cost us the ball game more than not going to the spread! That TD would have made the score 20 to 14 so we were still well in it sticking with the wing t or whatever I call it. In the 1st qtr we drove deep into Freeport territory and fumbled the ball away using our usual offense and that TD could have made the score 14-13. So the coach knew exactly what he was doing. He stuck to his game plan and we were driving the ball. But when you play a team that commits flagrant fouls and takes swings at our kids and continues to hit after the whistle and gets penalized once in the game late in the 4th qtr , then you are bound to lose the game! In other words our offense continued to work against Freeport and could have won the game! Have a great evening!

Hey Chris I couldn’t agree more! But your trying to down me because I didn’t know the correct name of the offense.. Well how about you go learn English and learn how to spell “throw”! It’s not through!

    TO FAN and Keith,

First of all the offense that Northview runs is not the wing T it is the DOUBLE WING, know what you are talking about before you post comments. The offense has worked so far this season due to the level of compition we have been playing. Granted some of the teams were good but when it gets this late in the season everybody has seen it for several games. Up until this week we did not need to run something else. When you have different formations why not run them just to keep them guessing. I guess what gripes me the most is why in the world do you wait until there is only 1:00 min left in the game to get in the spread and through the ball. I believe that was a little to late. Maybe we should have come out in the second half in the spread when it was only 20 to 7 and that may have loosened Freeport up so we could go back to the DOUBLE WING.

I normally put the game Hi-Lites together but my Stepson recieved a concussion in the 2nd qtr and I didn’t finish recording the whole game. I’ll put something together with what I have.

Does anybody know about a highlight video made from the game? Jw

  12. Fan on October 16th, 2010 4:43 pm

I understand that.. But when they load 8 or 9 people in the box it’s hard to run it.. I was just saying maybe he should try to use multiple formations! And keep them guessing! The wing T could still be the main one!

  13. Keith on October 16th, 2010 4:26 pm

    Yo Fan,
Because the wing t formation had the Chiefs 5-0 until last night! Did you watch Prep Spotlight last night on Channel 3 as they explained how our offense works? Our guys played against 18 guys every time they were on the field last night, If you don’t believe it just ask one of them! Just sayin!

  14. Fan on October 16th, 2010 3:16 pm

Why don’t that coach try something else once in awhile.. Like the shotgun formation! Just saying

  17. Keith on October 16th, 2010 11:18 am

Awesome news! Doc says Yuhasz’s concussion not as severe as last years. Recomended to sit out 1 game!

  18. Keith on October 16th, 2010 8:58 am

Freeport was penalized 1 time in the whole game! Am I the only one who wasn’t surprised? I 1st suspected the refs were on the Freeport payroll in the 1st half! Dustin is at the Andrews institute now getting checked out with his concussion we hope it isn’t severe. Update coming on his condition when it is made available. Last year he missed the last 3 games with this same injury so please keep him in your prayers. Brain injuries are obviously nothing to play with!
Keep your heads up boys and let this loss be a motivating tool and play determined for the last 4 games! You are still an excellent football team!
    Go Chiefs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
