Molino House Fire Believed To Be Arson (With Photo Gallery)

October 6, 2010

[Updated] Fire destroyed an abandoned brick home in Molino Tuesday evening, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office believes the blaze was the work of an arsonist.

The fire was reported in the 3500 block of Molino Road just after 6 p.m., and the fire was reported to be contained about 6:45 p.m. There were no injuries reported.

According to Lt. Kevin Fiedor with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the home was in foreclosure and had no power and no gas. He said the fire appeared to have started in the rear of the home.

“We believe at this time that it was arson,” Fiedor  said. He estimated damage to the home to be about $65,000. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the State Fire Marshal’s Office at (850) 453-7803.

The Molino, Cantonment, McDavid, Century, Walnut Hill and Beulah stations of Escambia Fire Rescue responded to the blaze.

Some of the fire units were on scene until about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

To clear the air, a member of our family owned this property. The elderly couple had passed away some time ago. To the best of our understanding, the house had been foreclosed on & it’s possible the son was still living on the family land. There were no utilities on at the house since it had been foreclosed on. No one was injured. Arson? We’ll let the investigators determine that.

Whats sad is if it was a eldery man home why has someone not try to help him. Young people that are able to work get free food free insurance free free free but the goverment turns their back on the people they should be helping. It make me sick.

Well I do know the animals were being taken care of. You people here really need to mind your own business. You can tell you know nothing about the people that lived there as others in town did. Just so ya know now ya’ll get some lives and other things to do .

So some1 could have saved the animals…& what was the “actual cause” of the fire..could some1 have been staying there????

If you only knew what you were talking about “chrissy”. & who cares if your name is in quotations. Geez!!!

  14. IN DA MIDDLE on October 6th, 2010 2:06 pm

To all parties involved, people don’t need to test an unstable person, thats a good way to have your house burnt down. This crazy unstable person has almost burnt the neighbors homes around him numerous times. It was just a matter of time before he did something like this!! As far as the animals, thats just wrong to leave them like that, and if anyone is that concerned about them go check on them your self I’m sure the people that live around him won’t because they don’t want their homes burnt down. Or call the animal control give your name and make sure to give your address so he can come see u!!! I’m just say!!!! Geezzzz

  15. chrissy on October 6th, 2010 12:04 pm

wondering why you put my name in quotation marks, like it’s allegedly my name. lol.

i’m just sayin’…. if someone knew there were animals there not being taking care of, why not do something about it? unstable persons property? if they don’t live there, which they obviously don’t, then who cares? go over there and check on the animals!

ok, whatever, not trying to get in one of these famous north escambia news fights, just hoping the animals are alright, animals have rights too and it’s time they were recognized.

    geez.

  16. soapbox on October 6th, 2010 11:33 am

well “chrissy” when you have animals on an unstable persons property, you don’t just trepass & go check on them, that could be very dangerous… but i’m sure it will all be taken care of now that the authorities are in the picture, and probably discovered all the animals last night.

  17. chrissy on October 6th, 2010 10:52 am

    got ya :

if you knew there were animals there not being taken care of, why didn’t you stop by to check on them or just call animal control or someone who could help? i don’t get it.

I hope they are alright, and it’s sad that someone would burn this house down. wonder why they did it.

  18. Got ya! (: on October 6th, 2010 3:50 am

Maybe Animal Control will come & save all those animals that are pinned behind this house in the woods! I hope the fire didn’t hurt any of them! All utilities have been cut off in this house for quite sometime, so I know they were not being taken care of properly!
