Mariah Carey, Tate Band And ‘Move That Bus!’ This Afternoon

October 24, 2010

The Extreme Makeover Home Edition home in Pensacola will be unveiled with cries of  “Move that Bus!” this afternoon, and the public is invited to join singer Mariah Carey for the event.

The entire community is encouraged to come dressed in their holiday attire and join Heritage Homes with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team leader Ty Pennington and designers Michael Moloney, Tracy Hutson and Johnny Littlefield, as well as music legend Mariah Carey in revealing the Gaston familyʼs new home by yelling “Move that Bus!” at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The reveal will include a Christmas parade with the Tate High School Showband of the South. The show will air on the ABC network on December 12.

To participate in Sundayʼs reveal, spectators should park at shuttle pick-up located at W Street and Beverly Parkway. Buses will shuttle spectators to the homesite from 8 a.m. until spectators have cleared. Spectators should plan to spend several hours onsite and should prepare accordingly by bringing plenty of fluids, such as water and sports drinks, and wearing sunscreen.

Saturday at noon, local builder Heritage Homes officially turned over the keys to the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team to put the finishing touches on Finis Gaston and his familyʼs new home. Just one week ago, Finis Gaston and his family received news from special guest Mariah Carey that they were the latest recipients of
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

“It has been a thrilling week,” said Heritage Homes President Frank Lott, III. “We could not have completed this challenge without all of the donations from local companies and thousands of volunteers. It also helped that we had perfect weather, and the spectators cheering us on didnʼt hurt either.”

The newly completed home, located at 1301 Rainbow Ave. in Pensacola, is 3,600 square feet total with 3,100 square feet heated and cooled and a 500 square foot garage. Layout includes four bedrooms and a nursery as well as three bathrooms.

I do not personally know this family… But I pray to God that He Will keep His mighty Hand of protection on this family since the world knows everything about them from where he works to where he lives etc. I pray that the demented evil of jealousy does not cause nut jobs to prey on these lives. People can be so ignorant and so jealous and will do crazy things because of this ignorance and jealousy. So I pray that everyone out there who is a believer in Christ will pray for this family for thier protection. God Bless You and keep you Gatson Family. Good Luck.
    Kay

This family is lucky to get a home with the modern conveniences and the new energy efficient technology that is available.

What many people donot realize, if they have not purchased a new home recently, is the incredile amount of savings new technology provides. A larger “new” home can actually have lower gas and utility bills than smaller “older” homes. Improvements in the construction world include: Higher insulation r values, insulated window, energy efficient appliances, “smart” thermostats, low flow toilets, water efficient plumbing fixtures, and so much more means monthly bills are not quite what you imagine. My new, larger home has HALF the utility and water bills of my parents older, smaller home.

I can’t wait to see the episode air and I wish the family a Merry Christmas!

Wow, what a wonderful blessing for a wonderful family. I can not believe some of the things that I am reading….how negative. If you are concerned about how the family will pay for their bills….I suggest you volunteer to be a mentor for Finis. How about that? I mean you must be a person who has knowledge of what is required to manage a home of it capacity? So, you know where he lives, you know where he works, and you even know what kind a of truck he drives; therefore finding him to bestow upon him your gift in finaincial planning should be easy. What ya think ? Perhaps you will be reward with a pretty gift you can handle….now that would be prettty. Good luck to you!

He has already finished College at UWF. Before people start talking down and being so negative towards someones blessings please do your research. Why is it any of anyones business how he is going to pay his bills or do the up keep of his home. Unless he is linked up to your home getting lights, water, gas, or whatever don’t worry about it. For once in this said place called the panhandle be happy for someone at least 1 time in your life and stop with all of the negative blows. If you don’t have anything nice to say about it then please hush. Maybe if the ones that are so negative fall down on their knees and face and pray to God you will be able to walk into your seasons as well. Give thanks to the Almighty because he is the one that made all this possible. And now we have people saying stupid things due to the works of the Lord. People get over it and worry about the bills that are building up in your own household. Have a blessed day.

I have been knowing this man since we were going to church retreats as kids. I have seen him grow and blossom into a man that is dedicated to his family and the Lord. I am so happy for him and the children this has been worth all the prayers, the tears, and the strenght of this young man. All of the negative things that has been said about him is just a sign of different walks of people that simply have no clue in what God can do. The past is the past and that is where we need to leave it. We should be lefting up this young man and encouraging him to keep on the path of his vision and taking care of his sister kids. He is awesome because there are not many young men that would step up to the plate and set aside there life style to be a role model for those that are looking up to him. So with that being said I am happy for you I love you and keep the good work.

    Your Friend,

Wow,this is wonderful!!!They should be very fortunate that there family was picked for this big event because there are many families that are worse off and would appreciate and love for this to happen to them.At least one of the Gaston family has a job,it is almost impossible to find jobs out there. The house is gorgeous and i know the Gastons will enjoy it,he will not have a mortgage now ,so therefore,he shouldnt have any problems paying taxes on the house. Enjoy Gaston Family!!!

I am glad that a working man and his family got a break on the house. He is a former food service brother in school cafeterias and we deserve a break every once in a while.

I know Finis and he has a positive additude and a wonderful personality, I think this has been wonderful for him and his family. He is a hard worker and very appreciative for all he and his family has been blessed with. Let’s all let him worry about taxes and bills. If God has seen he was to recieve this wonderful gift, then God has blessed him as Finis has been a blessing to his family. For everyone who complains and seems so worried about his not being able to afford this gift, then start a all mouth foundation for his bills, otherwise just be happy for him and his family. GOD BLESS YOU FINIS AND YOUR FAMILY……………..

Congratulations and best of luck to Finis. All of you people commenting really should do your research before you open your mouth. He has been transfered to a Pensacola school so he will not have to commute back and forth to Baker. And he has not been th only one working. Granted she will have to find a new job now, but Jasmine has been working 2 jobs to contribute to the family. Now as far as paying the bills and taxes and what not, GOD will make a way as long as you believe. Just continue to pray for them.

I think Mr. Gaston is getting a job in Pensacola, perhaps at First City Gymnastics, as I read that they received some repairs as well. Therefore, he will not have to drive to Baker every day. Also, I believe the kids are going to attend school in Pensacola. I read something somewhere about Mr. Gaston moving to Pensacola so that he can finish his college. If that happens, he will be able to get a higher paying job. I’m sure it will all work out. I also see where they are asking for donations to pay for taxes, etc. May God be with the family, as he has already blessed them!

  12. WORRIED RESIDENT on October 24th, 2010 2:30 pm

It is a beautiful home. I hope and pray GOD will make a way for the family to pay for everything needed. I pray that the family members who are able to get jobs, will get them. I hope all of this negativity energizes the family.

  13. Gus on October 24th, 2010 1:48 pm

Everyone is happy that this family has gotten such a wonderful gift, and it’s not out of being jealous that people hope they can pay for it. The family will have to live in it for a certain amount of years before they can sell it. But if the family can’t pay for it while they are living in it, how is the family any better off? Yes, they don’t have a mortgage, but there are still bills to be paid. The extra amount of gas to get to and from work, he has to go to Baker. The power bills, the sewer bill ( that he didn’t have before, because they had a septic tank, higher property taxes, higher insurance. Their is 5 people in this family and only one is working. He works for the school lunch room and coaches after school, and there is nothing wrong with what he does, but can his income support that size house, and the extras that go along with living so far from work. I’m not jealous, I hope the family the best. But if a person is given a gift that they can not afford and lose the gift, how is that person going to feel. Give a person a gift they can handle, and great things can be done. Give a person a gift they can not handle and watch what happens, it wont be pretty.

Congratulations to the Gaston family! Extreme Makeover Home Edition folks rock! They do a lot of good for a lot of people and I’d like to say a job well done to all of you folks who volunteered your time and effort to help with this project too. You have a special place in heaven.

  15. Horrific! on October 24th, 2010 12:04 pm

Yes they do…..Very Sad how jealous ppl are…..
by the way they have to hold the house x amount of years they can’t just sell it.

Good luck Gaston Family…..many happy returns…

  16. Ryan on October 24th, 2010 11:25 am

I do not understand why they must build everything to the “extreme” on this show. They build the houses so big and with so much extra crap on them that most families can’t afford utility bills, taxes, etc. Why not build just a regular home instead. If anybody does not believe many people lose these houses, do a search on google. There are many examples where families simply couldn’t afford the upkeep or borrowed money against the houses and lost them. What a WASTE!

  17. DJ on October 24th, 2010 11:16 am

Due to the location of the home I don’t think if he wanted to sell it that he would get the value it’s worth……but I do hope that the family enjoys it and nothing happens to such a beautiful house from others that are jealous in that area.

Some people have something negative to say about everything.

  19. ShaQuanna on October 24th, 2010 10:13 am

Wonderful Home! This a move of God, and this family deserve it. Its none of your business how they’re going to pay the bills, unless you plan on helping. You are a hater. This family has my prayer.

WOW!,Now thats a nice house.Hope he can afford the taxes, insurance, utility bills.Wrong location though. Good news is that when he sells it,it will be all profit. My guess is 2 years or less.
