“The Wellness and Cross Country team sponsored the run and only anticipated about 50 runners. Our over all goal was to promote running/walking and family fitness through the Chief Challenge,” said Natalie Nall, Chief Challenge coordinator. “We were surprised by the community turnout and great weather. We would like to continue to keep the cost low, but plan to work out the many kinks for next year‘s Chief Challenge. We heard great feedback from many of the participants and plan to make next year’s race just as fun . Thanks to the many parents and sponsors of the race.”

Letter to the Editor-
I would like to thank everyone who came out to Northview’s first 5K run/walk. Through conversations and emails, I was surprised to learn that over 75% of the participants and volunteers had never been involved with a 5k before. The Chief Challenge has fired up many people to continue to walk and run in our community. As one of the wellness coordinators, this is great news. Making the time in your day to walk/run for 30 minutes a day will contribute to a healthy lifestyle. I’m sure the new walking trail at Bratt Park will be busy. This excites me for next year’s run/walk.
The community support was overwhelmingly generous with donations of time, money, and resources. Having the community support enables us to keep the cost down. I would like to thank the community and Northview High School. Foremost, I would like to thank the cross country parents for helping with pre-race planning and race day activities. Secondly, a variety of clubs, departments, and sports (Volleyball, FFA, Drum line, FBLA, Math Department, Spanish Club, Cheerleaders, Wellness Program, & NJROTC) from Northview were actively involved with volunteering on the course. A special thanks to the teachers that encouraged their student’s involvement. Last but not least a big thank you to the many businesses and individuals that gave monitory donations or resources.

I didn’t run but I was there helping with something and it was great I will be there next year Too!!! Mrs. Nall Thanks for you!!
Keep up the hard work Ashley. Hang with runners like your uncle Kevin and you too may go to Nationals. Olympics? Push! Keep the drive and you will continue to improve, guaranteed! The only “bad” run is one when you ride back to the fininsh line! Never quit!
Correction: The team took Northview to state. Granted Kevin did “alone” take Northview to “Nationals”.
It was an honor for us to have three generations of our family to run in this.Myself,my son Kevin who took NV to state in running and my Grandadaughter Ashley Gunter. -We had a great time! thanks Coach Nall!!!
Congrats Alice Skaggs I am so proud of you!!!
Thanks, Natalie. Looking forward to next year!
Congrats to Jazzlyn for being the fourth 10th grade girl! Enjoyable event…can’t wait for it next year!!
Proud of you Robin!
