October 24, 2010

A female was ejected from her vehicle in a single car crash Sunday night in Molino.

The accident happened on Highway 97 north of Molino Park Elementary School. The female, believed to be in her 50’s, was transported by ambulance to a Pensacola hospital following the 7:20 .m. crash.

She apparently lost control of her vehicle on the wet roadway and entered a ditch were she struck a tree. Further details and the woman’s condition were not immediately available; the accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Molino Station of Escambia Fire Rescue and Escambia County EMS also responded to the wreck.

What ever happened to Paul Harvey (The rest of the story)…I know you can’t post it if it never gets released. I’m still wondering what ever happened to the young girl that was kicked in the head by the horse. I sure miss old Paul.

Why a seat belt law and not helmets for motorcycles? Don’t think it’s against the law to ride in the back of a pickup up truck, no seatbelts there.

Dick—Northescambia had a story a while back that one of the reasons the work was going so slow was because as you say there was no banking on the roadways. That the company doing the work is now trying the put in banking. Hope they can and it works. Of course if we speed and act dumb no amount of banking will keep people from having wrecks.

People will argue over anything. I know a guy that refused to wear a seatbelt because his excuse was ‘it was too dangerous’ if he were in a wreck. He got ejected from his car and the vehicle landed on top of him. I would much rather die wearing my seatbelt.

The curve on hy 97 is not & has never been “Banked” properly, so after a little rain the oily road is slick. Hydroplaning and oily curves don’t mix. There has been probaly 40- 50 accidents, alot resulting in deaths, over the last 20 or so years. You’d think that by now, after the stats, DOT would’ve fixed this, but hey!……this is in the northend. I will bet that there’s more accidents in that spot than anywhere else on hy 97. How that old oak has survived is beyond me. Hope the lady is ok!

For those who do not like the use of seat belts—pick out who you want to change your diaper after you are totally wiped out.

I was in a car that flipped and sank in a LA Bayou, I was wearing my belt and did have a little trouble gettin it off because we were upside down and it had a bind on it, after I got out I went back in and got the driver out who wasn’t wearing his belt and hit his head. I wear a helmet on my bike also, I’ve been hit by cars twice and helmets saved my life. As for the no helmet laws you need to understand why the insurance companies are okay with it.

  16. crazy on October 25th, 2010 8:46 am

This seatbelt “law” should be a choice. Yes, in most cases seatbelts are the way to go with these dinky little cars. But again, it should be a CHOICE. Why don’t we make a law to weaing a helmet? That is safe too. Wearing a seatbelt was not the law when I started driving. Next will be a law “no talking on cellphones”. You pay the consequences for the results of your actions but we don’t need more government control in our lives. Just another way to collect revenue.

First of all, Ryan – seat belts are law. Wear them. Laws are made because of statistical facts. They help save lives. Second, accidents happen. I agree with “conclusions”. Depending on the impact, the seat belt could have come loose. Instead of trying to find blame, I pray this lady is okay.

  18. Ryan on October 25th, 2010 8:06 am

For legal age adults, wearing a seatbelt should be your choice since it is their life. Writing tickets for this is nothing but a money racket.

  19. molino jim on October 25th, 2010 6:18 am

I’m with you Paul. The seat belt is going to keep you in the car and in control. Some times you may not be able to keep control –but you are not going to be thrown from the vehicle. And please don’t start with all of the “well you can’t get out of a burning car or a car in water” and so on stories. Some times you are going to die in a wreck–but you have a much better chance of living if you are belted in.

  20. Paul on October 24th, 2010 10:10 pm

They also hold you in the seat making it easier to control your vehicle. PSST, conclusions, I didn’t say she wasn’t wearing one.

  21. conclusions on October 24th, 2010 9:52 pm

We don’t know if she was wearing one or not…chances are not considering she was ejected. However, depending on the impact of the collision, even a seatbelt couldn’t have saved her from ejection. It’s not fair to jump to conclusions and assume she wasn’t wearing one.

  22. Samantha on October 24th, 2010 9:47 pm

Paul: Very true! It saved mine..and it only takes a second to put one on! My prayers are with this lady!!

  23. Paul on October 24th, 2010 8:39 pm

Seat belts save lives, buckle up.
