Bratt’s ‘Mayor Pro Tem’ Issues Homecoming Parade Permit

October 7, 2010

A “Community of Bratt Parade Permit” allowing the Northview High School DCT Class to hold a Homecoming Parade  was signed Wednesday at Northview High School.

The “permit” was issued by “Defacto Mayor Protem” Marion Cooper of Cooper’s Grocery fame. The protem mayor was standing in for “Mayor” Donnie Bass who was unavailable Wednesday morning due to “important” Bratt business.

The Second Annual Northview Homecoming Parade will roll at 1:00 Friday afternoon from Bratt Elementary to Northview, where a pep rally will follow. There are currently about 40 floats, bands and other units scheduled to be in the parade.

To enter the parade for free, contact Tommy Weaver at (850) 327-6681 ext. 254.

Great!! This is what makes small country schools unique. The HC parades at Century High that rambled thru the neighborhoods were great! Of course that was preFCAT days. You cannot release students to do in-school projects today like we used to. Many positive projects and memories are not allowed. Sad. It would be good if some of the floats were displayed/pulled around the stadium during halftime. The fans would enjoy it.

Yes, I also miss the parades at Century High School and all the other stuff that went along with the school. Was told the parade was pretty good last year might have to check it out this year.

It sure would be great if they could run the floats by for the crowd at the football game..just before the game…for the folks that can’t take off work in the middle of the day. Just a thought!
