Baldwin County Man Convicted Of Murdering Atmore Woman
October 8, 2010
A Baldwin County man was convicted Thursday of the capital murder of his mother-in-law, 53-year old Kathy Allison of Atmore, in August 2008. He was sentenced to life in prison.
James Morgan Dorriety blocked Allison’s truck on a Baldwin County road near the Lottie community and then used a rifle to shoot her multiple times. He then traveled to a nearby country store to call authorities and report that he had killed his mother-in law.
A Baldwin County jury returned the guilty verdict against Dorriety in less than 30 minutes. Under a plea agreement, Dorriety admitted to the capital murder charge to avoid the death penalty.

Dear HOPING FOR JUSTICE is something funny to you about this. That was my mother and your lols are not welcome in conversation regarding my mom.
Kathy was and still is my mom. Justice was not served in this case at all. He should have gotten the death penalty instead of being able to live out his life. He took my moms life and the S.O.B. has rights. What kind of a country do we live in? I will always love and miss you mom.
Finally justice will be served. To bad the state has to support him for a long, long time. God’s blessings on the families left to pick up the pieces of their lives.
Sounds like he thought his mother-law broke up his marriage or something.
Funny how someone always has to be blamed for someone’s failures.
This was my aunt and we still miss her dearly R.I.P Aunt Kathy we love you.
I hope that this can finally bring closure to the family!
what a lot of heartache and misery this man has caused. i cant help believe that he is totally insane or severely brain damaged. it doest justify what he did. but it is so horrible and caused so much grief to his loved ones and community, it is the only way i can make sense of it.
One of the reasons I choose not to live close to my daughter-in-laws……lol.
