Three North Escambia Schools Earn Five Star Award

September 26, 2010

Bratt, Molino Park and Jim Allen elementary schools are among 16 in Escambia County that received the Five Star School Award from the Florida Department of Education.

The award was established to recognize outstanding community involvement in schools across the state. In order to qualify, schools must demonstrate high levels of participation inĀ  business partnerships, family involvement, volunteers, student community service and school advisory councils.

The award was the 11th for Jim Allen Elementary, the seventh for Bratt and the first for Molino Park.

Molino Park Principal Alice Woodward said she is proud of the work that went into earning the Five Star School Award for the first time.

“I am proud to finally receive the Five Star School Award. Molino Park accomplished this through the dedication of our teachers and staff, parents, and a sincere commitment from the School Advisory Council. Having to have 89 percent attendance at all of our SAC meetings is the biggest hoop to jump through in receiving this award,” Woodward said.

Woodward offered a special “thanks” to parent Sara Jane Conti for gathering the documents needed for the award and providing childcare services during School Advisory Council meetings to make the goal attainable.

“The Five Star School Award is one more proof that Molino Park is a great place for children and learning,” she said.

Congrats. to MPES, Bratt and Jim Allen. All deserve a big pat on the back. This is a very hard feat to accomplish. Great leaders and teachers are what our children need and are getting in these schools. Mrs. Hall, we miss you at MPES but I know you are up to this tough job. Hey, somebody’s got to do it. Good luck.
