September 28, 2010

A new road name in Walnut Hill has been approved by Escambia County.

The name for the private road will be “Rocky Ridge Road”. It is located north off of the 6500 block of Arthur Brown Road, about 0.35 miles west of Pine Forest Road. Both of the property owners along the road signed a petition in favor of the road name.

The total cost to Escambia County will be $223.45 for a new street sign.

just heard today on FOX that by 2018 federal law (instituted by the department of transportation) mandates that ALL street signs must be in proper text, like “Jones Street”….not “JONES STREET”…..NYC is in the process of changing over now and its costing them millions of dollars to do it….my old road in walnut hill is private and theres been a street sign up there at least for the last 13 years, altho i have no idea who paid for it…..

It may have something to do with a 911 address.

If it is a private road why is the county paying for the sign?
