Escambia Double Homicide May Have Been Home Invasion

September 20, 2010

A double homicide is under investigation in Escambia County, and now investigators say that it may have been the result of a home invasion.

Two women were found shot to death as Escambia County deputies responded to a shots fired call just after 3 a.m. Monday on Pearson Road near Myrtle Grove. They were in identified as Raquel M. White, 32, most recently of Pensacola and Melony Lancto, 36, of Pensacola.

“Deputies entered the yard and located a female outside who was deceased. Deputies entered the residence at 7144 Pearson and once inside located another female who was also deceased. The two victims were the apparent victims of gunshots,” according to Sgt. Ted Roy, spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Roy said investigators are now treating the incident as a home invasion.

“A female was located near the scene and at this time is being interviewed as a ‘person of interest’ in the case,” according to Roy. There were no other injuries reported at the residence.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has not  released further details on the incident.

To NeedBetterCops: my brouther is an officer in Tallassee, and he said the same thing, that if I ask an officer to file a report or finger print he is suppose to (If with in reason) but these guys didnt. and the Sheriffs office did nothing.but make excuses, we need someone to take charge and do their JOB or leave office, same with the County Leaders. they think they are safe with the laws ,but there is a way to get them out of office. I am talking to Tallassee about this…

Chief of Police of Atmore told me if you ask officers to write up a report, they have to do it. I had gone to see him personally and told him of some of Atmore Police officers refusing to write up a report after I asked several times for the same incident that was happening over and over, over a period of 2 1/2 years. He got mad at his officers. They do it now when I ask.

To: Poor Excuses, I under stand I got broke into last year and the officers involved would not write a report or investigate the robbery. so I filed a complaint with the Sheriffs office I.A. dept and they mailed me a letter saying that the officer involved did nothing wrong. we are being backed into a corner by the ones that are suppose to run our County.( one day the people will come out of the corner somehow)

I agree it’s not all about drugs, many people in our society today are simply seflish and will do whatever it takes to get what they feel they’re entitled to. Some people will steal the shirt off your back if they think they deserve it more than you do.

Keep us updated on this one William….wanting to know who “the person of interest” is as I know one of the victims.

  6. Poor excuses! on September 21st, 2010 7:20 am

    John
    It’s not all about drugs.
Some of it is, your right.
One heck of a lot of it is about the one’s who WILL WORK against the
    ones’ who WON”T WORK!

Don’t tell me how hard it is to get a job either. There ARE jobs, there
just not here probably or they don’t pay enough so you might have
to find TWO, but there are JOBS! You can always take your family
and move to DALLAS. There are plenty of jobs there. That town never
knows there is a problem because it is always in a growth spert.
Of course none of these daddies boy’s want to move away from home
    even when their 40.

The problem here is so many of the criminals here are hunting buddies
or school buddies with the law, so nothing gets done.
Thats why so many home owners are left frustrated when the cops are
    called.
Half the time they won’t even write a report let alone do any detective work.
Thats because it’s the same mind set.
OH well it’s just a little property. Who cares.
We don’t like the person who was robbed anyway the have enough money
    that it didn’t hurt them.

Well let me tell you something.
When ppl are crooks, nobody can trust them and nobody is SAFE and
all they do is become worse.

Officer’s if you don’t want to do your job, give it someone who DOES!
