District 1A: Northview’s Boys Of Bratt Looking For Title

September 13, 2010

Two weeks into the season, the Boys of Bratt are in the hunt for the District 1-A title.

The Northview Chiefs are in serious contention for the state playoff berth with two district wins . Only four teams are perfect in district play — Northview (2-0, 1-0), Vernon (2-0, 1-0), Homes County (1-0, 1-0) and  Baker (1-1, 1-0).

This past Friday night the Chiefs avenged last year’s loss to South Walton with a big 27-20 win over the Seahawks. The Chiefs will be off next week, giving them a couple of weeks to prepare for their first home game on September 24, a district battle with Bozeman (0-2, 0-2).

i went there david ur CHILDREN went there not u so sadly u wouldn’t understand. i was in 2nd grade and still after 14 years makes since they couldn’t call it bratt or ernest ward because century high students were going there and vise versa. northview was the culmination of two rival schools that had been rivals since they were built. i have a parent from each of the former high schools and surprise they are in there 60’s and get. and by the way i dont know about ur kids but most NORTHVIEW students aren’t bratts most of us helped out on family farms or worked in atmore or molino and were far from spoiled bratts.

    perfect proof

    David whose children went there

  3. once a chief always a chief on September 17th, 2010 6:48 pm

the students from the local elementary and middle schools chose the name and the mascot before northview was opened

    REGARDING:
“To David Huie Green obviously you’re not a Northview fan ”

Nope, I wish them the best, can’t imagine why you would think otherwise.

The NAME makes no sense, so I joked with the concept of a more proper name but the people are semi-perfect. The proper name would also sound silly, which is why I envisioned the associated mascot and why renaming is unlikely.

    David the perplexed

“To David Huie Green obviously you’re not a Northview fan so I’m not sure why you feel that you have to try to make what our boys do any less than amazing, and if you were a fan you would think about where we were in the 03 season with only 1 win and the 04 season no wins, so we have come very far from that.

To Chief Fan I sat in the stands for 4 years and watched EVERY game home and away some of these boys pour their blood sweat and souls out every time they step on the field, while on the other hand there are several who don’t play because the coaches see they aren’t giving a 110% at practice so why put players in that don’t care and may cost the team the game. If you want every kid to play go back to community league cause in high school a lot of the boys play to get scholarships.

Finally I would like to say GOOD CHIEFS, boys you are truly the “boys of fall” around that old town. You boys are the story people go to bed watching on ch3 and the story people wake up reading on here. I love my chiefs wish I still lived in town to watch you boys play.

And oh yeah one last thing GO SHEETS love u cuz

just change the name of the school to Bratt High School. The school mascot could be a little kid running around with his lower lip poked out and yelling,
” I WANNA! ME, ME, ME! ” like a proper brat.

admit it, there is no view of the North at Northview.

perhaps Fieldview High School, but then you would still have the Bratt problem. Embrace Bratt, take it into your hearts. Think like Bratts! Half way there.

    David for truth in advertising

to chief fan. for one if the kids standing on the side line are ok with that then ok. if not then they should change it. eith step up on the practice field or just get better and quit complaining bout not playing but not willing to step up and do something bout it. and idk hoe it is know but a true chief fan would know that NHS is a team not just one person. and if Sheets is the best player at that position then he will play cause football aint no sport where you can expect to play CoachWheatley will put the best 11 players he has on the field. so just get over yourself and accept that and youll be fine.

    Hell Fire!! go chiefs

Thank you if you consider my son a super star I have always felt the same way. Sometimes a coach may not play a player because he did not step up on the practice field I’m sure if coach thought there were a better player for any certain position he would play that player. It is high school ball. I don’t think a coach would not play a player that could have been a better player than the ones on the field. as a parent I don’t want any of our players to get hurt . And God forbid that to happen another player will step up and play that position just like last year. Don’t be a hater the world is full of those already. I hope the players don’t pick up your negative attitude , I hope that they all feel as a team and know that each player has a purpose.

Really?? Bickering about saying the “Boys of Bratt” The first thing I thought of was that song ” the boys of fall” when I read it. I think it is very cute and no matter where you live, if you go to Northview and support your team you should be proud.

    >> NORTHVIEW HIGH SCHOOL
    4100 W HIGHWAY 4
    CENTURY FL 32535-3538
According to the United States Post Office Northview High School
is in Century Florida. look it up!!!!!

I can also look up the school’s address on their website:

    4100 West Highway 4
    Bratt, Florida 32535

I can also look up the telephone exchange for their number (850) 327-6681 and find out that the 327 exchange is Walnut Hill and Bratt.

I can also look up Northview with the Florida High School Athletic Association and find that it’s in Bratt.

But, most importantly in my judgment, I can stand atNorthview High School and look around. I don’t see Century; I see Bratt.

On a side note: If you stand at/near West Highway and Highway 97, you are all the way over just south of Atmore. You are in the community of Davisville. However, most of the addresses around you are Century, 32535. Many years ago, the same houses were in the Atmore, 36502 zip. But they are in Davisville.

A zip code identifies that individual post office that serves an address. It does not necessarily reflect the city where the address is located.

Go Chiefs!!! My complaint is with the coaches for not allowing players standing on the sideline the chance to play even if it is for just one play. Instead they play the same players the entire game which includes the quarterback playing offense and defense. All the players on the sidelines practice each day just as if they were starting. Coaches would be in a bind if there were no players standing on the sidelines. What would they do then if one of their superstars got injured?

My son is not playing football this year but we are a little ways down then Molino and he goes to Northview!!! I hope that he plays next years and he can be call the Boys for Bratt because that is where the school is!!!! It sounds GOOD To Me!!!

Boys of Bratt is a great choice of words.

  17. just because. on September 13th, 2010 1:56 pm

They wrote “The Boys of Bratt,” because the school is located in Bratt, FL.

if these young men can set their minds on this nothing can stop them from goin and getting the district title. it will be no easy task but they have shown so from to be a young scraping group that is willing to pay the price. as they continue to grow under Coach Wheatleys close eye they will only get better

    Hell Fire!!! Go Chiefs

  19. robert on September 13th, 2010 9:16 am

the school is located in Bratt so why not call them the boy’s of Bratt because as far as the location of the school that is what they are no matter if they live in Bratt or not. some folks just need another reason to complain about them combining the schools the way they did. get over it what’s done is done people like it ir not.

    >>>Perhaps it would be more accurate to refer to them as the “Boys of Bratt/Century/Molino/pretty-much-everywhere-but-Pensacola.” Northview is a lot more than just kids from Bratt. Kudos to ALL of the area kids contributing to the football team’s success!

I know where they are from. I had too much caffeine and was feeling creative. The “Boys of Bratt” was an off-take of the popular country song title the “Boys of Fall”, which is about football.

Since Northview is located in Bratt, I called them “Boys of Bratt”. They are commonly referred to by us and the other media as Northview High School of Bratt due to their location. They are not Northview High School of Bratt, Molino, Century, Enon, Barrineau Park.

No matter what you call them — Go Chiefs!
