Chinese Restaurant Coming To Century; Existing Retail Store Moving To Larger Location

September 22, 2010

A new Chinese restaurant will be opening soon in Century, and an existing retail business is expanding into a new, larger location.

Building permits were issued earlier this month for the Chinese Restaurant at Century owned by Qui Guo Wei of Pace. The business will be located at 8321 North Century Boulevard, across from Whataburger.

By the end of this month, the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store will move into a larger building. The store will move from its current location at 7850 North Century Boulevard to 9420 North Century Boulevard, near the Dollar General Store.

Jay c ould really use a new restaurant. , and not one opened in an old decrepit building, cause its not gonna make it. Whats sad is most all the eating places in America are chains.
There is no individuality anymore. Anyone interested in getting rich should open a new restaurant in Jay.

For a woman who hates to cook, I’ll any restaurant coming to town!! Yes Piggly Wiggly is high in their prices but at least it looks cleaner if only the smell didn’t knock you down when you walked through the front door….smells like spoiled chicken, hope Mr.Wei doesn’t shop there!!

I love Mr. Wei and Chinese food! Wouldn’t it be great if we could get a Jalisco’s in Century???

First of all, I love Chinese food and especially Mr. Wei. We are in desperate need of different varieties of fast food. I hope that it is not a buffet and is something more like Jay Garden with cheaper prices. The Pig and Whataburger have both provided with us with quick and easy food, so let’s not be hatin’. Ya Dig????

My husband loves his Chinese food for sure, but we only eat it a couple times a month. Hope this one half way compares to the one in Atmore, because if not, we will contine to eat in Atmore. Hot fresh food at reasonable prices and a friendly clean enviroment is the secret to a sucessful business. Time will tell!

Kylia, I am sure they will at least for a little while because it will be knew.peple love new. Terri, waffle house would be great! Whataburger prob would start closing at night then because there main late night business is the bar crowd who already said if they had a waffle house they would go there. I love the kids at WAB but the company itself left a bad tate in my mouth. But that is just my opinion.

I’m thrilled for the Chinese restaurant coming to Century. I hope that they have some of the things that my favorite Pensacola restaurants have. Piggly Wiggly has good food but sometimes it is nice to have something different. I’m sure that I will eat at both places.

Since our building(the one SVDP is vacating) has a licensed commercial kitchen maybe someone will get the incentive to put yet another restaurant in. I’m thinking Waffle House, or Bar B Q!

I know it isn’t burgers but I sure hope it gives WHATABURGER a good run for its money.

    To “Oh well”
Chen’s Buffet in Atmore has American food also – I love their salmon, fried shrimp, garlic shrimp, and fried chicken wings. And, of course, their plain rice has no special flavor. Maybe this new restaurant will have things like that too.

I’m glad to see empty buildings being used instead of new ones going up and old ones sitting empty.

this is great! can’t wait to try it out! hope they do well!

I’ve been boycotting the Pig since I moved here. It seems like the extremely rare occasion that I’ve needed something that I can’t live without (i.e. milk, bread after the Dollar General has closed), the things that I get are spoiled or moldy.

P.S. Your coffee emoticon is really cute.

Oh and by the way, I would be willing to drive the distance for a good Chinese restaurant

  25. [_]\ (coffee) on September 22nd, 2010 9:07 am

If you all in Century would go on strike from supporting the PIG for a few days, they might think about lowering prices.
They are so high now that I would go in there, not even for a loaf of bread.
My aunt & uncle drive all the way to Pensacola to buy groceries and still come out cheaper than going to Piggly Wiggly.
Does anyone remember when the IGA was across the road?

  26. David Huie Green on September 22nd, 2010 6:55 am

    I like Chinese

  27. About Time!! on September 22nd, 2010 5:46 am

It’s about time we get another restaurant in this small town we live in.. I hope & Pray it will be something worth good to eat. What about another Grocery Store? Will we ever get another one of them here also. If I have to keep driving to Pensacola to get my GROCERIES I will….The Pig just aint what it use to be anymore… Its doubled it’s prices on everything to pay for the big upgrade it just got…Like we dont know that already…
