Thieves Steal Copper From Church Air Conditioners

August 12, 2010

Copper thieves hit a church near Flomaton, ripping apart all the church’s air conditioners.

Three air conditioning units at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church on Friendship Road were dismantled, with the bandits cleaning out the copper coils. Church members said the theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9:45 Wednesday morning. Two of the units were used to cool the church’s main sanctuary, while one was used to cool their fellowship hall.

The Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft. Anyone with information on the crime should contact the Sheriff’s Office at (251) 809-0741.

    REGARDING:
“it used to be a no-no for thieves to even consider stealing from
    a church”

Actually stealing of any kind is still a no-no but I remember a lot of churches being robbed back in the sixties.

You know…….it used to be a no-no for thieves to even consider stealing from
a church……but now? The world is so very wicked and godless that even the church has ceased to be safe from crime…..May God help us!!!!! By the way, they won’t have to tell God that they stole from a church….He does indeed, see and know ALL ……even when we do or do not worship in His House…..works both ways!!!!!

WOW….. it sounds like this person has hit rock bottom, the old saying ” may God be with you because no noe else will” might not work for this person any more.Whom ever did this should have knocked on the front door’s and asked for help insted of stealing from the back door. I’m sure they would have received it. Just plain sad!!

I believe people steal from anyone they can nowadays. One thing about hitting a church is that they are probably insured whereas, others may not be.

Its not a case of needing to steal for food but METH ! A man needing food for his family can ask and receive more from a community if the family is in need. Until you make the penality severe enough this will continue to happen.

most folk do not fear the Lord. There is no respect to the house of the Lord nor its laborers. May the Lord convict the hearts of the ones who are stealing not only from churches but in other areas as well.

I don’t know where these people are from, but how low can you get. If they needed food or shelter they could have gone to the church and asked the Pastor and members. But as someone else said the Lord sees all.

This is my home church. I think this is terrible-not just because it’s my church- but because it is A church! Why would anyone stoop so low?! I am with Kim on this one..even if the law doesn’t catch you(which I hope they do) and even if you THINK no one saw you, the LORD sees all…may HE have mercy on you for stealing from HIS house!

Stealing from a Church the house of the Lord… It is so sad that people get this low and dirty in their lives. They will definitely answer for this one day even if the law never catches them.
