Tropical Storm Danielle Update

August 22, 2010

[Image of 5-day forecast and coastal areas under a warning or a watch]

Tropical Storm Danielle formed in the Atlantic Sunday afternoon, and forecasters now say it will become a hurricane by late Tuesday.

The National Hurricane Center said the fourth named storm of the 2010 season was over the eastern Atlantic, about 725 miles from the southernmost Cape Verde Islands. But there is good news in the forecast — the Hurricane Center calls for the storm to make a northwesterly turn into the Atlantic, far from the United States.

The latest information on the storm is in the graphic above.

Final Preps: Molino’s Dollar General Nears Opening

August 22, 2010

Final preparations were underway Saturday at the new Dollar General Store on Highway 29 in Molino. Employees said the store could have a quiet “soft opening” in the next few days. A grand opening is planned in the coming weeks, but no date has been announced.

The store was constructed, stocked and ready for opening in less than three months — the building permit was issued on May 25.

Molino’s Dollar General is just over 12,000 square feet; the company’s average store is about 7,000 square feet.

The store will offer a full selection of  brand name and private label products, including food, home decor, household items, basic clothing, seasonal items and more, according to company officials.
