Dogs Allegedly Abandoned By Fireman Have Been Found In Good Shape

August 28, 2010

The three dogs allegedly abandoned this week by a Century fireman have been found.

The dogs were found on Highway 4 near Bratt Road, not far from Northview High School, and returned to their owners. The owner said all three were checked out by a veterinarian and are fine.

The fireman told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that he abandoned the dogs on Highway 4A  at Pine Barren Road.

To *AL* ~ IF Animal Control had picked up these dogs, the dogs would have been held for 72 hr. if they were not wearing a collar, not micro-chipped,etc. Animals with collars, chips, etc. are held for 5 days. After the 3 day/5 day hold period, the dogs would be put up for adoption provided they are not on the list of prohibited breeds. With all the concern generated by the community and animal welfare groups about their plight, the dogs would be adopted straight away.

Some fates are worse than death…slowly starving on the street, suffering debilitating injuries from being hit by car, abuse/torture at the hand of humans, etc.

if they HAD been picked up by animal control they would be euthanized within 72 hrs after their time on the stray row.

Thanks goodness for the dogs sake. The county animal control people abandoned them as well as the poor fireman who just wanted to help. Why do we tax payers have to support a group like the animal control folks, who are apparently useless!! It did not meet their criteria to come pick these poor animals up and see that they where safely returned to their owner.

Are you so sure that the right person got the dogs this time??? So what lets drop him off at that road and then drop him off at another road in the woods for a few days with NO water NO food!!

Thank goodness! And thank you, William, for the update. I don’t see that the term “Allegedly Abandoned” should be used because he admitted putting them out of his car and told where he put them out — he did adbandom them. They may not have belonged to him but he had said he would take them to his house and take care of them — he took care of them, all right.

Best news I have had all day!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks NE for keeping all of us posted.

Hope and pray these 3 dogs can get the love and care they need.

Hopefully the guy that started all this will get the maximum sentence.

Dogs are much happier in their own homes and in a fenced yard with room to run. I love my dog very much and would be heartbroken if he escaped from my yard and would do anything to find him. I am glad the dogs are home and safe again.
