Century Correctional Institution Donates School Supplies To Byrneville Elementary

August 27, 2010

The Century Correctional Institution donated a large amount of school supplies to Byrneville Elementary School, just in time for the first week of school. Century CI holds the school supply drive each year, with employees generously donating to the children of the community. Such great news, Byrneville school and staff is are excellent; I just wish it went up further than just the 5th grade though… We do miss the school and all of the staff…

Except for the < 1% of staff who give law enforcement and corrections a bad name, it is good to see NE print the other side. 99%+ of these public servents are faithful and support the communities in so many direct and in-direct way. They serve their communities and do a job most of us don’t want to do. News Organizations mostly dwell on the negative news but when you have positives it’s good to see NE print those too.

I do love to see articles like this where the community can
    come together for the children.
    Is there a better purpose?

If you want a great town raise great children
    If you don’t see it.
    Your children will!

I dopped off a few things to our local elementary the day
I read all the problems with supplies in here and how
the parents seem to have such a problem with the lists.

I will try to remember them each and every month and
    take over some more.

I advised the girl in the office that if she saw me to simply
    tell me what she needed.

It wouldn’t hurt a lot of our older citizens who have time
and a little spare change in these trying times to come through
for their nearest school in just some small way.
After all it is for the Children…..

What the heck you might just sleep better for the effrort.

It’s amazing what our local folks have rallied together and done this year to help supply our kids with the things they need. Not only the Century Correctional Institution, but also many local churches have held school supply drives. It touches my heart to see that people care about our little ones. Thank you!
