Winn Dixie Announces Closures; Local Stores To Remain Open
July 29, 2010
Winn Dixie has announced the closure of 30 “”underperforming” stores, but none none of the store in this area are on that list.
The stores in Cantonment, Atmore and the rest of the Pensacola area will stay open. The list of stores to close by September 22 includes one location in Alabama and 18 in Florida.

I’ve worked for winndixie for 3 years and as employee we do not make the prices, but we all need jobs, alot of the stores have been hiering cashiers, I’m nor saying were better than any other store but we are trying to get better everyday!
I quit shopping at w/d because of the lack of cashiers. I would stop by on my way home for a few items and have to spend half an hour or more in line. With their already high prices it just isn’t worth it to me. There are too many grocery stores around for me to put up with that.
Not surprising to me — they want too much profit on everything that they sale. For me the cost plus 10% stores have opened my eyes to just how expensive it is to walk into a Winn Dixie. The people that run that store must have the same mentality as our Federal Government — if you want more revenue just up your prices (taxes in the case of the government). Do they not realize that this mentality could very well cause their stock price to go to zero again and more stockholders will get burned again. I usually only go into Winn Dixie for their “Buy One, Get One Free” offers (which usually puts them right around or slighly under some other stores’ everyday prices.
