Watch Flomaton Traffic Cams 24/7

July 1, 2010

Area residents interested in the traffic in Flomaton can now check out two new cameras.

The Alabama Department of Transportation has installed two live Internet traffic cameras — one at the Highway 31/Highway 29 intersection and the other at the Highway 113/Highway 31 intersection.

ALDOT can control the pan and tilt on the cameras, pointing them in different directions, so the camera view may be different at different times of the day.

For more ALDOT cameras, click here.

(Editor’s note: It may be necessary to press the “play” button below to see each camera. If you do not see videos below, it is because your work or home firewall is blocking external videos.)

2~BGW! Yea i see that but say you are turning from 31 to 113 that dotted line leads you into the wrong lane!

All the negativity about the cameras. Everyone thinks they are an expert. Guess it’s been a slow day for them and they had to find something to comment on!!

WHO — The dotted line is for traffic turning onto Hwy 31 from Hwy 113. The next time you are up that way you will notice that there are actually 2 lanes that turn right and one that turns left off of 113 to 31.

FlomatonResident and John M Smith — There are several cameras in place at these intersections. The DOT will monitor different angles at different times of the day.

Watch the intersection of Hwy 113 & 31!! whoever painted the lines when you are turning on 113 is dumb! I almost got in a head on right there the dotted lines are really confusing! I was just watching it and i have seen a lot of other cars do the same as i did! They might need to do something about that. It leads you into the wrong lane! Just watch! Maybe something can be done before someone wrecks right there.. Am I the only one who noticed that?????

These cameras are not operated or controlled by the Flomaton PD. They were installed and operated by the Alabama Department of Transportation to monitor traffic flow. If you’ll follow the link in the story, you’ll see they are part of a series of cameras, mostly in Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Just can’t make people happy, no matter what.

The one at 113 needs to be angled downward and the one by pizzahut needs to be facing the intersection where alot of truck drivers cut people off turning onto 29. Unless they adjust them correctly, it’s a waste of time & money in my opinion.

It seems to me that neither camera covers the complete intersections, but rather gives one a good view of Rowland”s tires, and the business adjacent to Pizza Hut. I thought they were (Dot) cameras to observe traffic.

What good is the cameras for if the person who controls the Flomaton police keeps telling them who and who not to write tickets to? Waste of money!
