My experience boating in the area is that you can’t see much from the ICW side of the island.
Last year, they put us so far offshore that you can’t see anything, either. I won’t do it again.
If you anchor up near Quietwater (Jubilee), you can see some of the show; not enough to make it worthwhile if that’s the only reason you’re going to be there in a boat.
Just me.
Anyone have any experience with boating inside the Sound/Bay side of the island and seeing the Blues? What about rafting up at the boardwalk? Can you see from there?
For first timers: Get there EARLY! I mean like 9 a.m. early, or you won’t get a spot! And (unless the “rowdy crowd” is your thing) keep to the area just west of the fishing pier – it’s more family friendly.
the Oil is only on the gulf side, and even then it hasn’t been terribly bad the past week (didn’t stop the 300+ people from attending tuesdays “bands on the beach”). My family is gonna park our happy rears over on kiddy beach and watch from there.

I’d program in the Holiday Inn on Fort Pickens Road. You have to drive right by the beach to get to it; it is adjacent to the show site.
That’s just me.
For the person coming from Georgia — You can enter this address into your GPS for getting to Pensacola Beach:
Santa Rosa Island Authority
1 Via DeLuna
Pensacola Beach, FL 32561
You can reach them at (850) 932-2257
or call the Visitors Information Center at 1(800) 635-4803
Finding a parking spot for the airshow is sometimes a challenge, so I suggest you call the Visitors Info Center & perhaps they can give you some suggestions. The best one is simply to arrive early. I hope you enjoy the show!
Where do I come to see the show I mean the exact address.. I am coming from Columbus ga.. need to feed into my god
Don’t take your boat and expect to get to see the show from the water! Last year, they had us so far out from the pier that you couldn’t see the show very well; the planes were little dots. Far cry from years ago when seeing the show from the water was absolutely breathtaking and special.
Why would anyone want to go breathe the mess down there? Oil, dispersant chemicals, jet exhaust. Sounds healthy.
