Saltdogs Nip Pelicans 3-2

The Saltdogs beat the Pensacola Pelicans 3-2 in 10 innings Thursday night.

Pensacola (18-27) loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the fourth when Lou Palmisano lined a single to left to bring in Francisco Leandro and make it a 1-0 Pels lead. Chase Porch followed with groundout to short which brought in Brito from third base to push the lead to 2-0.

The Saltdogs (28-17) rallied back in the bottom half of the fourth when they loaded the bases with one out in the inning. Shawn McGill hit a grounder to short where Gonzalez threw it to second for one out and then Kyle Brown threw a ball over Brito’s outstretched glove allowing two runs to score and tie the game up at 2.

The game would stay tied until the tenth inning when the Saltdogs rallied with two outs and nobody on base. Vance Albitz started the rally with a single into center. Gavin Dickey followed with a sharp liner to left field. Rafael Alvarez then singled into right center to score Albitz and win the game for the Saltdogs 3-2.

Saltdogs reliever Nolan Chestnut (2-0) tossed four scoreless innings to get the win. Ron Hill (1-2) took the loss as he gives up the game winning hit in the tenth inning.
