Escambia Deputies Investigating Another Murder

July 12, 2010

Authorities are investigating the tenth murder of the year in Escambia County.

At about 2:00 Sunday morning, deputies responded to a fight in the parking lot of the Blue Bar on Mobile Highway. Deputies encountered about 20-25 people yelling and jumping around the front of the business in what appeared to be the start of a fight, according to Ted Roy, spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies dispersed the crowd with the help of off-duty deputies that were working at a Circle K across the street.

Once the fight was broken up, deputies were advised of a “man down” at the Circle K across the street from the bar, Roy said.  They discovered a black male lying in the front door of the convenience store who was unresponsive and covered in blood, according to Roy.

The victim’s injuries were the result of foul play, and the case has been ruled a homicide, according to sheriff’s investigators. No one has been taken  into custody in connection with the homicide, but investigators have spoken to several potential witnesses.

Investigators are asking anyone that may have been present or know anything about this case to call the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

The murder was the tenth of the year in Escambia County. There have been three additional homicides this year in Pensacola.

The Westside is badly decomposed. Blue Bar needs to be shut down. It is unfortunate that Pensacola is not a safe place to relax anymore.
    Everyone is moving north.

There are so many bad things going on at night, I always wonder who
in their right minds would ever go out after dark around anywhere in
    escambia county.
As far as I am concerned excluding the people who work nights, all
the people out there at night I would assume are the bad guysl.

Therefore, you won’t be seeing me after dark.
Besides there is nothing good that goes on in this town after dark!

Unfortunately, these things happen. Hind sight is 20/20. The only thing that can be done is, if there are enough bad things happening, maybe the people in the neighborhood can make enough complaints and have the Blue Bar closed down. I really don’t know if this is possible. I’m only saying that I know a little about this area due to living there about 15 years ago. Our house was broken into twice, a lady was shot by her lover in front of our house, and we lived in fear every day and night. We were fortunate enough to move away. There are good people there who are not able to move away and are trapped in their homes for the fear of going outside after dark and sometimes in the daylight. I wish that this place as well as the surrounding areas could be cleaned up of all the thugs, thieves, and awful people that plague the areas there and around Pensacola. The sad thing is that the best advice the police can give you is, buy a gun and if they come into your home, protect yourself and your family. I truly don’t like driving through these areas anymore. It scares the heck out of me.

I grew up in this area long before there was a Montclair,Mayfair,Truman arms or Diago Circle. Bells Head was a small community of both white and black folks and we lived in relative harmony for many years. However, drugs and an influx of thugs and reprobates from other areas have sent this area into a tailspin from which we may not recover. Every night there are gun shots and the thumping of the loud and often vulgar rap heard all over the place. Most of the long time residents are like me,too poor to move and afraid to stay. It’s a darn shame that we are beseiged in our own homes by criminals and druggies. The sheriffs department does all they can but they are outnumbered and out gunned. God help us,we are in trouble.

at the intersection of Mobile Highway and Massachusetts Ave, less than two miles from Diego Circle.

It would be nice if the Circle K cameras caught the affray because the people involved tend to think admitting anything is worse than living in a world where killers roam freely.

David for more cameras at public intersections
