Escambia Ala. Hires New Assistant Principals, Retired Northview Coach

Assistant principals were hired and a former Northview teacher and coach was hired to replace a new assistant principal during a special meeting Thursday afternoon of the Escambia County (Ala.) Board of Education.

Sarah Watkins was hired as a new assistant principal at Escambia County High School. The former teacher joins new ECHS Principal Zickeyous Byrd, the former principal at Escambia County Middle School.

Jason Petro was named the new assistant principal at Escambia County Middle School.

Lorenzo Jones (pictured) was hired as a history teacher at Escambia County Middle School to replace Forrest Dale Jones, who moved into an assistant principal position at Escambia County High School. Jones retired following the last school year from Northview High School where he taught history and served as a football and basketball coach.

    If I can see this man again I would give him the biggest hug .Through all my years I went to school this. Man belived in me.though at time I didn’t belive in him,I wish I could just tell him thanks for all he tried to for me.If he is still teaching I hope he is able to touch at least one students life like he did mine.Thanks coach

    Should is such a STRONG word, but probably correct. Grow where you are planted.

    On the other hand they don’t actually pay ZERO taxes since part of our economic system involves sales taxes and Alabamians do often buy taxable items in Florida–as do people from all over the country.

    Not sure about the comment concerning failing Schools in escambia County, but I do believe that Alabama Students should attend their Schools! they pay -0- taxes in Florida……………………………………………..

    OMG….I remember at Century High School….Many Many years ago….He is going….Hope he can make an improvement in the school…They obviously need it……..I really believe that with these escambia schools failing…All these students are gonna be knocking down doors at Flomaton High School…..I truly hope if all these students flock to Flomaton, it does not affect Flomaton’s good standing with their scores…..

    WOOHOO Coach Jones. He was my 8th grade Civics teacher an the old Carver Middle School in Century, and I loved him. Great teacher and role model.
