Atmore Police Investigate Armed Robbery; Seek Help

July 7, 2010

The Atmore Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store, and they are asking for the public’s help in locating the perpetrator.

At about 12:30 a.m. on July 6, the Atmore Police Department responded to a holdup alarm at the Kangaroo Express on Highway 31 West. The clerk working at the time of the incident told officers that a black male entered the store with a gun and told her to open the register.  The suspect ran out of the store towards Rachel Patterson Elementary School with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the clerk. The clerk was no injured

Officers secured a perimeter around the store and called a K-9 unit from the Alabama Department of Corrections for assistance. They were unable to locate the suspect.

The Atmore Police Department asked that anyone with information about this crime call the department at (251) 368-9141.

No further  description of the suspect was released by the Atmore Police Department.

    Proud,
I also like Atmore I just don’t want my kids in the public schools. Atmore has crime like any other town. No town is like Mayberry. Maybe now Byrd can clean up the high school like he did the middle school. Just don’t expect them to pull their pants up. You could walk around the middle school while he was there and the students walked around with them sagging. Don’t tell me they don’t because I saw it while on a tour there.

I do live in atmore and do know what crime atmore has and do know what never is spoken. And I grew up with with the fine people who run the casino. Be proud but don’t fool yourself.

There is nothing wrong with living in Atmore. There is crime in every town and city and there is very little crime in Atmore. Our Police department does a fantastic job. I am very proud to live here and raise my children here. As far as the “slots” comment goes…..that casino has provided much needed jobs and no one is making people go and spend their money.

atmore and crime not a chance. Read the local papers they will get you straight. Maybe he just needed money to play the slots. Another great reason to not live there.
