William Everett “Billy” Carlson

June 22, 2010

William H. “Billy” Carlson passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010.

Billy Carlson was born in Pensacola, Florida on January 29, 1980. He graduated from Tate High School in 1998 and attended Pensacola Junior College. Billy worked as a residential home designer at Today’s Homes, Billy was no ordinary employee. His wonderful artistic talent and dependability led his employer Jim Bozeman to remark that he felt like Billy was part of his family.

Billy’s ambitious pursuit of a career in acting and modeling led to a number of successes which included various photo shoots and spreads in local and regional publications, television commercials, runway modeling, and an appearance in the movie, “Final Destination”. His commitment to this career led to an unparalleled dedication to personal health and fitness. He could often be found in the gym three times a day, five to six days a week.

Billy’s love for refurbishing cars and trucks was first triggered by his father’s gift of a ’56 Ford pick-up. Subsequently, he built and renovated various show cars and hot rods. His two most favorite vehicles, a GMC truck and a Camaro convertible will be displayed at the viewing and funeral.

Along with his love for cars and automobiles, Billy loved to help others. There was no task too large or challenge too difficult for Billy. He was extremely creative, thoughtful, and resourceful. He loved his friends and family, and lit up a room whenever he entered. He would do anything for anyone. His self-sacrificial nature has resulted in a great multitude of friends and family that loved him so much.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; Mr. Raymond William Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Melatt, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Everett Carlson, and his best friend; Brian Carter.

I just heard about this yesterday, and feel I need to give my heartfelt condolences to the family. I too lost a son to a drunk driver and the pain is just too overwhelming for me at times so I know how you are feeling. My son was killed 3/15/08 and was the same age born 1980 the driver was only charged with a dui.If any family member of Billy’s wants to talk with our family let us know. God be with you and yours.

Billy, you will forever be in our hearts, you will continue on in those who love you. We will never forget your shine and the smile on your face! Rest now, and one day we’ll see you again..

    Peggy and Dennis,

I cannot pretend to imagine your pain through these times. To borrow/paraphrase a line from President Lincoln, during the Civil War:

“I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have” raised such a exemplary person.

You two, and all the extended friends and family did a spectacular job, and we are all thankful for the time we did have with Billy.

For the first time I am at a loss for words….Finding out the news about Billy’s death has been a very rude awakening that has made me realize that nothing is promised in this world, and to live everyday to it’s fullest! My heart goes out to Billy’s family and friends may you all find peace.

I am so incredibly sad that I will not be there for the services so I wanted to share a simple word that will FOREVER allow me to think Of Billy. “Smile” that was my immediate reaction every time he walked in a room!! He was truly more than words can ever describe & I am missing him dearly…..

I pray for peace to you & your family Billy……Always!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Billy’s family and everyone whose life Billy touched. His sincerity is what made him shine so much. He could definitely light up a room with his smile. There are very few people you meet in life that make such an impact on you and Billy was that person. Heaven has certainly gained a special angel.

I went to turn on my light in my bathroom last night and it did not come on right away. It’s about to short out like my other bathroom did. I thought to myself, “Better call Billy and get him over here to help me fix it” (we spent over two hours trying to figure out the last one due to 40+ year old wiring). Then it really hit me that he would never be coming over again. Such a great person has been taken from us and he will be missed. My prayers go out to all of his family and friends. May he rest in peace…

First of all, thank you Mr. Dennis and Mrs. Peggy for the amazing blessing you gave to this world in your son, Billy.

Billy, you was always one of the corner stones in everything we did as a group. We were more than just a group of friends, we were like family. And like such, we will miss you so much. Although your time here was so short, you touched so many lives. And forever will remember you and cherish you like one of our own.

You were an inspiration to many of us when you was with physically with us, and now, it’s obvious, you’re still an inspiration to all of us, in how to become someone loved by so many for being how you were.

Thank you brother, we love you.

“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth — and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up — that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.”
This, I feel Billy did every day!

Thank you Mrs. Peggy and Mr. Dennis for raising such a wonderful man! Our prayers are with you!
Billy, I can see your halo and you are so beautiful!

Billy was the nicest guy you would ever meet. He was caring and loving. He made everyone he came in contact with feel specail. Thank you to Billy’s parents for raising such a great guy. Words can not express the sadness that has swept over all of his friends. It seems we are in some kind of fog that we can’t come through. I think we should all learn from Billy’s life he was always smiling.
Smile on Billy you will be always remembered and greatly missed. Becky

“•What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we…” Angela Sasser (Pensacola, FL)

Billy was without a doubt, the best person I have even known. His charm, charisma, and generosity drew people to him. He had the most beautiful heart and soul and I will forever miss him. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with his family as he has moved on from this life to the next. I’ll see you again someday ‘dorkfish’……until we meet again.
    Much love,

The first thing I feel I must do is say THANK YOU to Billy’s Parents, it’s because of you all of us found a true friend.
I can’t say it enough, Billy is an amazing person/friend. We will miss him but I know he will be watching from above wishing we were all there with him. Even if you met Billy one time you became a friend, he had a way about him to make you feel special. The world will not be the same with out Billy, he will be forever missed and loved. He is in a much better place now and is watching over us and this is what will get us through.
You don’t know how beautiful you are but BEAUTIFUL Billy….is all that you could be!
My heart is broken and I will miss you more than you know but the lord needs you, his Angel with him in heaven, so spread your wings and fly my friend, your memory will live on! I love you Billy!

Even though I haven’t known Billy as long as others have, I felt like I did. This article is beautifully written and it truly sounds like the Billy I met 4 years or so ago… He truly was an extraordinary and remarkable person… He is one of a kind… I would like to say Thank You to his parents for raising such a perfect angel… and although he may be gone from this earth, he will never be forgotten and he is always here with us in spirit… We love you Billy and we will miss you dearly!
