NHS Class of 2010 Graduates (With Photo Gallery)
June 6, 2010
The 130 members of the Northview High School Class of 2010 graduated Saturday.
“Remember, you are the future of tomorrow,” Valedictorian Kaitlyn Nicole Caraway told her fellow classmates. “Make the most of yourselves and live life to the fullest.”
“Now is the time to make your past help you make your best futures. Use this long time coming to create the greatest longer time yet to come,” was the message from Salutatorian Clinton Eugene Davis.
Escambia County School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas also offered words of encouragement to the NHS Class of 2010. “Enjoy your memories, but do not let those memories lay down your dreams. Don’t let your love of what has happened in the past stop you chasing the potential of your future because I believe you can be anything you dream you can be if you are willing to work hard enough to make the dream come true,” he said.

I totally agree that tickets should be sold for such an event. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and relatives. Each student should have a certain amount of tickets that they can sell. If it were not for people just in there to watch, not have respect for families, and so on, maybe this would not even have to be considered. But sad as it is, that is how it is. It is such an honor for a parent to sit and watch the child they helped through these years to receive a diploma. So sad that people of any age it seems, does not have the respect for others that is so well deserved.
WAY TO GO CASEY HARE!!!! So proud of you!!!!
Jessica, your family is so proud of YOU and of all your accomplishments from pre-school-12th grade. I’m so glad now that I took lots of pictures and video’s to revisit when I start missing you and that time of yours & our lives. I hope and pray that College will be just as equally fulfilling and your future gives you all that you deserve. Awesome achievement on being #4 of your class also!
I would like to send out a special THANK YOU to all those who played a vital role in our daughters life starting at Bratt, Elementary-Ernest Ward Middle-Northview High Schools. Without your dedication and love for teaching and/or volunteering and all the support you give each child, Jessica and all the other fine students might not be where they are today. Kudo’s to all who care about our children!
Congradulations Branden, We are very proud of you today.
Well I don’t think that the teachers sure have a special place to seat. The parents should be shown more respect then they are shown. The staff forgets who helps these children get up and get to school, Help the school if they need help. But for some reason parents are not important when it comes to graduation. Hope things will change in the future for the parents.
To the Observer: I know what you mean. I had to return home after some things for my graduate. When I got back I was either going to have to sit outside or try to find a seat in the theater. Well, I decided I would look for a seat in the theater. I found one pretty fast. I do beleive that if they had to buy a ticket and each grauate be allowed so many relatives and have a ticket for each one would cut down on the abuse of the seating. These people that hold large sections or block off seats should be asked to leave. I encountered several that was just there, that they did not have anyone graduating. That in my opinion means they took up seats that a parent could have had. They could have stood in the back like lots of parents had to do. I know there were plenty of people outside when I returned. I think that since our graduates earned their right to have their parents watch them graduate that maybe Northview can come up with a better plan by next year.
Northview Graduated almost double what Jay did. Jay had 75 and we had 130. So I think buying a ticket to get in is not entirely out of the question. Yes like everyone else I had to put money out as fast as it came in. But we had 12 years to prepare for it. It is like Christmas it comes around every year

Congrats Class of 2010! Way to go!
Please Don’t.
I know the people I reference and I’m not lumping them with “All” professed christians or just plain decent fair minded people. The individuals I reference do rush to the front or church to be seen and are kind enough to pray for you as they justify their actions with the metophorical knife between your shoulder blades. I’m encouraged and retain hope because most of these graduates of whom I know. Not only recoginize this hyprocisy, they share my distain for it. I again congradulate this fine group of young men and women who have the potiential to impact our community and our world in a positve productive way.
Lennie Bird,
We are so proud of you! We are excited about your new journey into adulthood and all the great things you will accomplish. Seems like only yesterday you were a little baby that I carried on my hip everywhere .
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt.
Love ya!
PS – It makes me feel so old to realize that you are graduating considering you started elementary school the same day I started college! ha!
Congratulations Clint and Eric. Enjoy your Summer and all your achievements.
All the best for your futures.

Way to go Jonathan Burkett !!!!!!!!!! We are really proud of you
observer,
“I sat and wondered how these people can sit with clear conscious when they hurry to the front row of their church Sunday?”
please don’t lump all people who call themselves christians together. Most of the folks you talked about don’t hurry down to the front pew.
My family arrived at Northview’s graduation 2 hours before the scheduled start at 4 PM. Our position in line placed us within approximatley the first 100 people in line. Once the doors were opened and we proceeded into the gym to be seated. I witnessed many acts of total selishness. Several individuals felt the sense of entitlement and blocked off lagre sections of seating to save for their friends or relatives. Many of the people who had played by the rules and waited in the heat to be there on time were denied their rightful place to choose the seating which they would have chosen and had earned. I was sickened as I witnessed friends neighbors and even some of my own family arrive well after many of those who had earned their spot and march straight to the prime locations. I sat and wondered how these people can sit with clear conscious when the hurry to the front row of their church Sunday? Then I clearly remember what one thes self righteous type told me several years ago. ” I don’t give a damn about all of those other people and their kids, I’m here for mine” . Like I said, I know many of the folks and hypocrisy seems to be their guideing principal. Sadly some of the kids who graduated Saturday will be infected with this trait but thank God not all will. I guess that old “Do unto others thing” only applies to those when those self entiteled see fit!!!
I just want to say I am so proud of my son(Jasey) and neice (Erica) !!!!!Congradulation class of 2010….this is where it will all begin!!!!I love you all,Love Mrs. Kristie
Congratulations to all of the fine graduates who were rewarded for their many years of hard work. Go forward with confidence but be weary of arrogance and a sense of entitlement. Life can be fun if you put yourself in the position with the right choices. Remember to live by the standards you place on others.
