@ ?……THANK YOU!!! You said it all!! And they must not know the inside stories about how rude and belittling and hateful she has been to the parents over the years….SERIOUSLY, get your facts straight before you go attacking Christians, “BLESSED”……….My child attended a CHRISTIAN school and was homeschooled…we know a Christian environment….so I stand by my Whoooo-hooooo!!! ;) See y’all at Bratt!!

I want to say thank you Mrs. Promery for being such a good Principal and enjoy your retirement!! Welcome Mrs. Hall, we look forward to working with you. Also, if I am correct, I think Mrs. Hall is Mrs. Perry’s (Principal at EW) sister. So if sister is like sister we will have another good prinicpal.

We took our kids out of Byrneville when it went charter and sent them to Bratt…Mrs. Pomeroy aka Mrs. Cox was such a refreshing change from what our kids left at Byrneville…

    REGARDING:
“Do you folks actually believe that public education is better now than before these people became “educators”?”

Do you mean as opposed to being teachers? Or are there specific people who have become educators who you think are pulling down public education?

They’re learning things in school now which they never learned before because nobody knew them back when we were students.

And some aren’t learning because they don’t care, have made up their minds not to learn or are being distracted by that person of the other sex too close to them. I remember it made it hard for me to concentrate waaaay back then–not that I have ever griped about the mini-skirts or the low cut dresses, just that they were extremely distracting. There’s no telling how much more I might have learned–academically–had it not been for those twin distractions, but overcoming hardships is part of education, too.

Education has many flaws, owing to there being so many flawed humans in the system, but I’m not ready to abandon it yet in favor of perpetual intentional ignorance.

    and typing despite leggy distractions

Do you folks actually believe that public education is better now than before these people became “educators”? If so, keep praising them and being part of the problem. If not, let’s be realistic and start standing up for the change and reform the is necessary to save education for our kids and grandkids.

The parents that are making all the rude remarks really do not know Mrs. P. She is a very caring person. She loves all of her students. I have been blessed to have her in my life for 13 years. She is such a caring person. She has did many things for your children. She has always stayed in the back ground and let others take the credit. I understand that Mrs. Hall is a lot like Mrs.P. We will be blsssed to have her at Bratt. as we did Mrs. P.

To Mark. You are right on one thing and that is parents are not hired to run the schools. They usually volunteer their time to help the teachers at Bratt and other schools. Ask the teachers how much help that is to them Mark? They should have their voices heard in this country just like everyone else. The worst thing that ever happened in this country to me was that parents and teachers lost control of the students. That is one reason that the kids don’t have any respect for themselves or anyone else. People like you are the ones that have made this country so screwed up. Leave it all to someone else to make changes that are good for families. We have left it for the politic correct dummies to make our choices for us. I for one believe that I am going to be heard and my voice and vote counts. As for as the principal they are not always so sweet and they can be wrong. But, if we leave it up to other people to make our choices for us then who cares Mark? By the way I am being nice as I can be.

I had Coach Jones in middle school.. as well as Sr Chief Coleman, Coach Simpson and Ms. Lee in High school. They were all great teachers. I wish them all the best in their retirement.

To Mark: PTA stands for PARENTS’ & TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION. The P does not stand for PRINCIPAL. Parents are supposed to be allowed to make decisions concerning PTA. Know what you are talking about or at lease read the comment you are bashing before you start blabbing, please.

I don’t know what your problem is, I loved Mrs. Cox! She was such a nice lady, and she always let us do something fun at the end of the year! I remember her getting a pie to the face at least three times. She was a lot of fun.

    REGARDING:
“I was the Parliamentarian one year in the FFA.”

Having a Parlimentarian in FFA impressed me most some years back. It meant they were committed to properly run meetings and a properly run meeting lets all give input without dominating.

    Congratulations

    David being serious

To the one who made the comment about the parents being involved and opinions etc….parents aren’t hired to run the school or to give opinions about what should or shouldn’t be done in the school…the principal is. Its when parents get involved with their opinions that trouble starts…mainly because everyone has different opinions. EVERYONE can’t run the school and make decisions, when you start that, you will have problems because the schools can’t and WON’T make everyone happy. I’m sure she did the best she could with what she had, if you think you can run it better, apply for her job, get it, and then make your assumptions about what she did or didn’t do wrong. THE END!

My 2nd grade year at Bratt was in 1982. My teacher was Mrs. Hassebrock. My oldest child just finished her 4th grade year with Mrs. Hassebrock. How cool is that? I send out a BIG congratulations to all of you that are retiring. I have never had a complaint with any of the staff at Bratt. If an issue ever presented itself, it was handled with great professionalism and care. Thank you! I just can’t leave out Mr. Meharg, I was the Parliamentarian one year in the FFA. I was secretary for 2 years, I think. Mr. Meharg, you had a HUGE positive influence on my life. Thank you.

Seriously, cutiepie?!! Before you start jumping down someone else’s throat, you may want to get your facts straight. I can assure you, there are a lot more people who feel the way FL mom does than the way you do. They are just not posting it here. Before Pomeroy (Cox), parents were welcomed at Bratt. PTA meetings were filled with parents wanting to help, offer their opinion, and make a difference. Once she came along, that all changed and the only way you could get enough parents in attendance at a PTA meeting for a quorum was to hold it during a class play. Which is how she preferred it because then parents were not allowed to voice their opinions or ask questions. Her words “You never open the floor for discussion. You never ask them (parents) what they think.” So what’s the use in trying to have an actual meeting? I have pictures of Pomeroy over the past 10 or so years every year at the awards ceremony. This year was the first year I actually caught her on film smiling. Every other year, she looked like she had just licked a lemon and it would kill her to crack the tiniest of smiles. You want to talk about a Christian attitude. Are Christians not allowed to have an opinion? You may want to reevaluate yourself before you question someone else’s Christianity if you want to snap so quickly. I have had many discussions concerning her retirement and EVERYONE I have spoken with has been elated. Even if they no longer have children at Bratt. FL mom, send your child on. We will welcome her with open arms. You aren’t the first parent to not send your child to Bratt or to take their children out of Bratt because of Pomeroy. Not that I totally agree with that because our teachers are the best around, I can empathize. Now, our wonderful teachers can breathe a little. I have heard great things about Mrs. Hall and absolutely cannot wait to see what she can do with our school.

Great job Ms. Lee you will be missed. thanks

Did Mrs. Pomeroy use to be Mrs. Cox? I think so. She looks GREAT! She was there back when I started at Bratt, and that was quite a while ago. 14 years or so. But she was the nicest principal I had.

  17. Walnut Hill Resident on June 7th, 2010 11:14 pm

Well I will say it as nice as I can. GLAD YOU ARE LEAVING POMEROY IT’S ABOUT TIME. Now that is as nice as I can make.

  18. Mrs. H on June 7th, 2010 10:24 pm

Well, Mrs Promery has been at Bratt for a lot of years. She has been a very good leader I know there has been good times and some bad times and not always seeing the same view but in the end its all about the children. Thanks for all you have done for our school. Good luck in the future and don’t forget us. God Bless You

  19. blessed on June 7th, 2010 10:19 pm

Mrs Pomery has been so great for Bratt. She always has stress family first. Bratt wil never be the same with out her. I have been blessed to have her in my life as a friend and coworker.

  20. cutiepie on June 7th, 2010 10:18 pm

Seriously FL mom grow up!!!!!! If you don’t like her keep it to your self. There are many more who love her than who feel the way that you do. A more christian attitude would be to keep it to yourself and let her retire in peace. She has done more for that school and those teachers than you know.

  21. FL mom... on June 7th, 2010 4:43 pm

Whooo-hoooo!!! New principal at Bratt……my prayers have been answered!! I have held off putting my child at Bratt because of her and now I feel FREE!! :)

  22. Molino and EW Mom on June 7th, 2010 4:41 pm

Congratulations Mrs. Hall for being named the new Principal at Bratt. We at Molino Park are so blessed to have had you touch our lives and share in all of our milestones. To the teachers and staff at Bratt, you guys are getting a very wonderful caring person that will go any distance needed to protect, nurture and see your children succeed. You guys are EXTREMELY lucky!! Our loss is your gain!

  23. David Huie Green on June 7th, 2010 3:35 pm

Miz Lee (Darleen to me) sat behind me in Geometry Class at CHS. We were half way through the year before I noticed her. She was THAT quiet.

    (or was I that noisy?)

  24. Shea on June 7th, 2010 11:33 am

Mrs. Lee was my math teacher @ CHS and she was awesome at her job. She really will be missed. I know that I could not have made it through college algebra without the background she provided. My son attends Bratt and I have had to chance to speak with Mrs. Pomeroy. She’s a really great administrator who cares about her kids. You can tell because she seems to know there individual personalities. She will be truly missed.

  25. Sylvia on June 7th, 2010 10:24 am

Miss Lee taught both my boys. She was a wonderful, caring teacher that was willing to go that extra mile to help her students. Good luck Darlene and God bless you for all you did for your students.

  26. Stuart on June 7th, 2010 9:33 am

There are a lot of great people on that list.

Mrs. Hassebrock, Mr. Meharg, Mr. Farish, Coach Simpson, and others.

God bless you all for your years of investment into children (including me). I employ those lessons every day of my life and hope my little one is privileged enough to sit under people like you.

  27. eli deese on June 7th, 2010 8:46 am

mrs.hassebrock was my teacher for her retiring year.it made me sad at the thought of having my teacher leave bratt.mrs.pomeroy was a great friend to me and everything she did

  28. Kristi Hughes on June 7th, 2010 7:55 am

I went to Bratt and had Mrs. Hassebrock for 5th grade, and I remember when Mrs. Jeter became our “librarian”. At Northview I had (then Senior Chief) Capt. Coleman, Coach Simpson, and Ms. Lee. I also had Mr. Meharg for Ag Science when I attended EWMS. I wish each of these retirees the best of luck, thank you for all the years you have dedicated, not only to my personal education, but the to education of each and every student you have taught. Teachers are our biggest heroes, without them we would never be in the positions we are today.

  29. norma on June 7th, 2010 7:07 am

Best Wishes to you Mrs. Pomeroy!

  30. Erin on June 7th, 2010 5:03 am

I remember Mrs. Hassebrock and Mrs. Jeter from when I was in Bratt, 14 years ago. I saw Mrs. Hassebrock at my job the other day, and I think it made her feel good to know I remembered her and that she had made a great impact on my life. I know it made me feel good to know she remembered me. And Mrs. Jeter, book fairs were just THE best thing! I miss those days.
