The 1165th Military Police Co. Alabama National Guard Unit based in Fairhope and maintains a unit in  Brewton, has learned that it will be deployed to Afghanistan. The company also has members from Brewton, Flomaton and the North Escambia area.

The 170 troops will be deployed to Afghanistan next January; soldiers will get to spend Christmas at home with their families.

While in Afghanistan, the company will work as a personal security detachment with maneuver and mobility support operations assignments.

The company ended a 15-month tour in Iraq in July, 2004. They were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Citation and Meritorious Unit Citation when they returned.

Just a little comment here. Lets all remember that these men and women are who give us freedom. There is no need to talk about Presidents or what they did or did not do. These are the people who make our freedom and I am proud to say that one of those men that served already two terms was my husband for 13 + years and I am still proud that he is who is. Our sweet baby will miss him terrible but he KNOWS HIS DADDY IS A HERO!! HERES TO A SAFE RETURN TO ALL OF THE 1165TH MILITARY POLICE UNIT! WE ARE VERY PROUD AND LOVE YOU LONNIE!

God speed and God bless our American service men and women, they are the reason we have the right to post on here, and all of our other freedoms we take for granted..

My Husband is one of the Military Police being deployed, please say a prayer for our family. I hate to see more men and women being sent to war, but , I am proud of their dedication to our country!

How about instead of political bashing we all say a prayer for these men, women and their families. I personally know several members of this unit and please remember that the last time this unit deployed to Iraq in 2004 they lost one of their own. As a fellow servicemember may God bless and God speed for those deploying and all the ones currenlty serving overseas.

Erin, you can thank George Bush for Afghanistan AND Iraq. Bush couldn’t get Bin Laden, so he quickly devised a false pretense for invading Iraq, thinking that a quick victory there would make us all forget that Bin Laden had escaped!

Obama isn’t responsible for any of that.

Thought we weren’t going to send any more troops over seas. Thought everyone was coming home. Thanks for another lie, Obama.
