Royals Advance Toward State With Win Over Northview

May 8, 2010

jay11.jpgIt was all the things that good playoff games are made off Friday night in Jay as a capacity crowd watched the Jay Royals take on the Northview Chiefs the Region 2A Semifinals.

In the end, the Royals beat the Chiefs 1-0. Along the way, it was a game of great pitching, great hitting and equally great fielding.

The only RBI of the game came from Rush Hendricks in the bottom of the third with a single up the middle to score Sawyer Gandy.

jay14.jpgIt was the end of one of the best seasons ever for the Chiefs (18-10). The Royals (17-7) will advance to the Region 2A Finals  at 7:00 Friday night in Jay.

Hunter Brown pitched seven for the Royals, allowing two hits, no runs, one walk and striking out three. Austin Reid pitched seven for the Chiefs, allowing five hits, one run, four walks and striking out six.

Northview hitters included Brad Lower 1-2 and Dakota Stuckey 1-2.

Jay hitters included Sawyer Gandy 2-2 with a run and Rush Hendricks 1-1 with an RBI.

The reason the calls at 1st base “were conveniently out at first” is because the royals first baseman stretched his 6′3 tall body to make the play. WAY TO GO ROYALS, WE ARE PROUD OF ALL YOU GUYS !!!! The truth comes out in the end at the scoreboard.

Way to go Chiefs!! I didn’t get the chance to see the game, but heard it was outstanding. Chiefs hold your head high, you had a season to be proud of and definitely one to remember . You can come back next year with a vengeance. I’m sure the whole North end of the county are proud of you guys……As for the Seniors, all good things must come to an end, but you can still play ball and further your education. ROYALS can say what they want about the game, but they never could beat the BLACKCATS!! Some of you have the BLACKCAT gene, so let’s show them how it’s done…..

Well, we would of had several runs had they not conviently been called out @ first…but to me that’s neither here nor there…both teams played hard and give it their all and we STILL believe in OUR Chiefs and I’m already looking forward to watching them next year..

I’m very proud of Northview! They played a great game and we(fans) did everything we could to show them we appreciated them! I’m sad because it’s the last game of our senior year and I know the boys were upset. But we def should’ve had that game! We LOVE you chiefs!!!! =)

The royals never would have one if northview didnt get sooo many bad callss, Looks to me like the umpires were payed a little extra under the table by jay coaches. It’s okay the chiefs still had a really good season and still got that SWAGG! (: WE LOVEEEE OUR CHIEFSSSS.
