McDavid Woman Found Floating In Escambia River Passes Away

May 31, 2010

A 48-year old woman found face down in the Escambia River Friday morning has passed away.

The victim was identified by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office as Sharon Annette Lambeth, 48, of Gunner Road, McDavid.

According to the Sheriff’s Office incident report, Lambeth was one of two passengers in a truck driven to the end of Gunner Road, which ends at the Escambia River. She told the vehicle’s male driver that she was going to walk toward the water. About three minutes later, the driver began to look for Lambeth, but could not see her so he walked to the edge of an embankment about 10 to 12 feet above the river, according to deputies. The man found the victim face down in the water.

The man told deputies that he jumped into the river, pulled the victim out and began to perform CPR. After performing CPR for some period of time, the man placed the victim in the truck and drove to a nearby home and yelled for the residents to call 911. The man continued to perform CPR until emergency personnel arrived on scene.

Lambeth was transported to West Florida Hospital by LifeFlight following the incident.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, the man told deputies that Lambeth was unable to swim and had been drinking vodka prior to the incident.

Editor’s note: The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office report identifies the victim as Sharon Annette Lambeth. Her obituary (click here) identifies her as Annette Lambeth Griffis.

No one knew that day she was gonna be taken away. No one knew. Remember there will be no more tears where she is right now.Jesus has her safe in his arms.No more pain…. She was so fun and very loved. If you didnt get to know her, she was a diamond of a person, a rare jem so to speak. We all send our humble prayers to the father to help all her loved ones in this time of sorrow………Yes ….Watch and see…….

He put His arms around you
    And whispered “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you suffer
    And saw you fade away.
    Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
    A golden heart stopped beating,
    Laying loving hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
    He only takes the best

Annette was a loving and kind person who left us for a much better place.
Those who had only known her for a few months thought they knew Annette, but didn’t.
WE that have known her forever are the ones who knew that there was once a happy, fun, kind, loving, joyful, silly, goofy, crazy, full of love for all Annette.
For US that have history with her should feel blessed that we have memories, GOOD memories of her, positive memories of the love she had for life.

Heaven must be shinin today, what a reunion. Love you Nett

I knew Annette a long time. Remembering all the times we spent together; Annette, Cody, Chris Lambeth ; my deceased husband and myself.

All the times on the road to the Brownsville Revival in Pensacola for two years with a car load of women who couldn’t wait to get in the Lord’s presence and praise Him corporately.

All the joy , pain, laughter, sadness and then the goodness of a loving Heavenly Father who would wrap His arms around us when we would allow Him .

Cody: remember all the good times at home and the Brownsville Revival with Lindell Cooley and how very much you are loved.

Chris: remember all the good times and give God all the glory.

To all of Annettes’ family and friends; I pray the Holy Spirit will comfort you as only He can. May the peace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, be with us all.

Gods’ grace is sufficient and amazing. His mercies are new every morning. His unconditional love is ours because He is love.

Peace, peace, peace flowing down from the Father up above.

    TO TINA:
Wow seems to me Tina that you put your trust and faith in God as his word tells us to, but please understand that he had other plans for her and needed her more.
He called her home, and there is a reason for everything even though we may never understand.
Just know that she is in a better place than we are, and I know that if she had a chance to come back to this crazy place, she WOULD NOT.
Not a moment of sadness, pain, depression or sorrow in heaven.
