Flomaton Wreck Leads To Meth Lab Discovery, Hazmat Situation
May 30, 2010
A Saturday night wreck in Flomaton led to the discovery of a possible mobile meth lab, landed a Niceville man in the Escambia County (Ala.) Detention Center and created a hazardous materials incident.
Ronnie Eugene Ordis, Jr., 29, was charged with second degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance after authorities found numerous items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine, according to Interim Flomaton Police Chief Kataris Jenkins.
Ordis was southbound on Upper Creek Road about 7 p.m. when he lost control and ran off the road. When Flomaton Police Officer Jimmy Davis arrived at the scene, he reportedly began to question Ordis and look in his vehicle. When Davis opened a small container in the vehicle, an unknown substance irritated his eyes and nose. Davis was later evaluated by Escambia County (Fla.) EMS and decontaminated by a hazmat team from the Poarch Creek Fire Department.
According to Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Lambert, Ordis was decontaminated at the jail prior to being booked. Lambert said Ordis had most, but not all, of the components needed to manufacture methamphetamine. in his vehicle.
The Drug Enforcement Administration in Mobile was notified of the find, and a hazardous materials team from Birmingham was dispatched to clean up the scene. The Flomaton Fire Department, Lambeth Volunteer Fire Department and Pineview Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the call.
The incident shut down Upper Creek Road for several hours while authorities awaited the arrival of the hazmat team from Birmingham.

According to Escambia County (Fla.) Circuit Court records, Ordis is a former resident of West Highway 4, Century.

I know this is LATE, but Ronnie is a great person. He has been through alot and has turned in the wrong direction during his time of despair. Ronnie grew up in Century, went to CMS, and Northview. He is a great friend of our family. He is a great father. Unless you know someone do not judge them from one day in their life.

Regardless of where the boy went to school, the article stated he was from Niceville. I don’t care where he went to school myself. A drug dealer and cook running a mobile lab needs to be behind bars!!!
Well our not so imaginary friend God will forgive him just as he will forgive you of your sins. We are his children and he loves us unconditionally.
It’s funny how ignorant people can be. Christ is going to forgive you for making meth and destroying your body (temple for him). Yeah, you pray to your imaginary friend in the sky and ask him for forgiveness. I mean, he’s had such a terrible life I could see where someone would turn to meth. NOT. I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail. He could have hurt someone pretty bad if he was doped up on meth. It’s pitiful how people can’t handle their problems.
MOTHER OF RONNIE: TO ALL OF THOSE WHO JUDGE :

HE MADE SOME MISTAKES AND I KNOW HE WILL LEARN FROM THEM….IM SORRY TO THE PUBLIC IF HE HAS ENDANGERED ANYONE PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY BUT I CAN SAY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART THAT HE NEVER INTENDED TO HURT ANYONE.. IT IS NOT HIS NATURE… PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR PAST AND LET THE FIRST ONE CAST THE FIRST STONE THAT CAN….PLEASE JUST PRAY BECAUSE HE IS PAYING HIS DEBT TO SOCIETY…I HOPE THAT ONE DAY NONE OF YOU HAVE TO FACE WHAT MY FAMILY AND HIS WIFES FAMILY HAS HAD TO ENDURE… MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL…..
People are so quick to judge and take the time to post there opinions about someone they dont even know when instead you really should just pray for them and their family. He is someones son and father and you never know what tommorow holds for your own life or your family. Pray for Ronnie and his family please.
Ronnie graduated from Northview with me in 1999. We were the first class to complete all four years of high school at Northview.
He would have been in the Northview High Class of 1997. I wondered why that name sounded familiar to me.
Same story. Perhaps William should rename a section of the website: Meth busts
Ronnie Ordis was a freshman at Northveiw the year that
northveiw opened up.everyone here running there mouth dont have any idea about Ronnie. He is not a bad person has problems in his life that noneof you are aware of.He has a little bot less than 2 years old his wife was killed in an automobile accident less than ayear ago.He is having ahard time dealing with her death. What he was doing was for his own use not a drug dealer.I know that it is still wrong and hoping thios will make him get the help he needs to be able to deal with his wifes death.I hope none of you ever have to deal with losing your spouse but if you do you will see that it is hard to deal with
age 31 isn’t in doubt for CHS, 29 is. It could have been the former CHS which became CMS but that would mean my mind was failing so I’m sticking with CHS.
and I DEFINITELY remember him and his sister going to school in Century
from Wikipedia: “Northview High School is a high school located in Century, Florida. It is currently listed as a 1A school and has been serving North Escambia County, Florida since 1996. Student enrollment varies year-by-year, but averages between 500 and 600 students. The only principal of Northview High School is Mrs. Gayle Weaver.”
So if the first class at NHS was summer of 1996, the last class of CHS would have been spring of 1996. It is now spring of 2010. That makes it 14 years later. A person who is currently 29 would have been 14 years younger 14 years ago or age 15. Most people graduate from high school at 17 or 18 (not all, but most) so if you take two or three years off of 12th grade, you are left with tenth or ninth grade at that age.
David doing complicated calculations
I am 31 and I went to Century High.
Yet another upstanding member of society – THE PROBLEM IS FOLKS – THEY ARE KILLING OUR KIDS – and it is slow and painfuldeath – both of the body and the soul. LOCK THIS CREEP UP FOR THE REST OF HIS MISERABLE LIFE. Our officers should not be endangered like this. A gun battle is one thing – but the possible death of an officer from these chemicals is worse than criminal drug possession – it is attempted murder and the offender should be charged with the appropriate crime.
I graduated from Century High School in 1994, and we was the last class or next to the last class that there was and I was born and raised here all my life and know everybody that went to school with me and I don’t remember any Ronnie Ordis.
REGARDING:
“they are illegal you know…”
dangerous too, I’m told
David in a world where people ignore laws
and safety
1996
29 now
15 then
ninth or tenth grade?
David Hule Green…
What do you mean when you say be more careful with the meth labs..they are illegal you know…
If this young man went to Century High, then either he is older than the article states or either he isn’t who they think he is. Century High closed roughly 20 years ago and this Ronnie Ordis couldn’t have been more than 9 years old when Century closed and Northview opened.
I remember Ronnie from his Century High days.
People need to be more careful with their meth labs.
People could get hurt.
our dedicated officers can find them and arrest them all day long but till the state stops offering slaps on the wrist called plea bargains it is in vein. Stiffer sentences for dealers and cooks
Lucky for us that Officer Davis wasn’t seriously injured. Flomaton should be proud to have such a professional officer that knows how to treat people when they get stopped by an officer. Good job and keep up the good work Officer Davis.
Another one bites the dust. Good job Officer Jimmy Davis!
