Uh has anyone thought that parking over dry pine straw might have started the fire?

Comment to Another firm victim, I kind of know what you are saying, because our insurance company makes you feel like a victim of the fire. I hope Progressive reports it instead of making us look a criminal. Companies always want to put the blame on someone else. You pay insurance policies year after year, and they seem to want to try to find some other way to get out or it. But maybe we will have this claim finished soon, so we can at least be able to purchase another vehicle and not have to borrow my moms!

To everyone who has a vehicle fire story to tell,

Have you all filed complaints with the NHTSA? The only way to get these problems fixed is by making sure that the manufacturers know about the situations.

My Chevy Tahoe caught fire (from the area behind the a/c controls and radio). It was still under warranty but Sandy Sansing wouldn’t fix it. GMC won’t fix it. The extended warranty I bought won’t fix it either. They all say that’s an issue for my insurance company. It seems that even though they all agree that there was an electrical problem and they ALL warrant against electrical issues, they do NOT warrant against fire. So…..when the electrical problem caused the fire, that cleared them all from any culpability. This particular fire problem is a very common one on the Tahoes, Silverados and Suburbans. Many complaints have been filed for this, but until they get a certain number of complaints, they will not investigate. If they don’t investigate, more vehicles will burn, more houses will burn with them and more people will be hurt and killed.

If you have a problem with a vehicle, for God’s sake, REPORT IT!!!!!

several years ago husband home apx. 10 min. from outing with chevy truck when there was a boom I rushed to look out the window & the truck was on fire with flames apx. 10 ft. high. he had the fire out when fireman arrived they said they thought the battery had exploded. after it was cold so could take a good look it seemed it had started at the a/c. it had been in the shop twice but a/c still didn’t seem right. i had been waiting until i could get the garage cleaned out to get another car & was going to park in the garage every time. If that truck had been in the garage we would have lost our house & contents for sure. I will never park in garage connected to my house again. if it had exploded before he got home he would have been killed & possibly others as well. I really doubt the make of wayne’s had anything to do with the burning. so glad no one was hurt.

The XL7 is NOT made by Toyota!!! It was made by General Motors!!! You know Chevy, GMC, ect…. Glad your safe and not injured, but don’t say Toyota makes that vehicle if your not sure. General Motors made that vehicle in one of its Canadian plants.
