NHS Band Awarded At Universal Studios

The Northview High School Band was honored at the Music City USA Festival at Universal Studios in Orlando this past weekend.
The band received a Superior rating in the High School Class A Jazz Band Category and also won the High School Grand Champion Award for Instrumental Music.
The rhythm section — Beni Deron, drums and Jackson Smith, bass — received an award for the best section, while Melissa Moretz received the Best Soloist Award for alto saxophone.
The NHS Band also had the opportunity to participate in a “Stars Parade” at Universal Studios.

Well, you should have heard the great comments the judges made chief fan. These kids work hard and don’t get the recognition they deserve!

I heard that this weekend, there were 5 participants in the USA Music Festival. 3 were bands and 2 were choral groups.
good job guys. I miss everyone. how many bands were competing against you? it looks like it was a good trip, I hate that I missed it. i miss nhs!

AWESOME job NHS Band students>>> Your community is so proud of each one of you and It is so “about time” to see the band program shine again. This just goes to show how practice, hard work, dedication and a positive attitude pays off in the end.
Thank you Mr.Slay for bringing the motivation, spirit and pride back to the NHS Band program and I hope each year just gets better and better.

I am thouroughly proud of all of you in the band this year and hope you all continue with music in the years to come.
To those who would like to try out for band for this upcoming school year: NHS BAND CAMP will take place during the last 2 weeks of July and the First 2 weeks of August. You must attend these dates in order to be in NHS BAND. Also if you are a current student at NHS who was in band at one time and would like to try again I will be doing to some woodwind and brass instrument teaching and tuturing every Wednesday till the end of school 3:30 to 4:30 PM. It is great to see our hard work paying off. Congradulations NHS band 2009-2010.

Isn’t it funny that nearly everyone is looking in a different direction than you? Reminds me of the picture upstairs in the youth class we took at the Creation Museum when we went to Cincinnati!
