Highway 97 At Highway 29 Traffic Delays Expected Wednesday

April 27, 2010

Traffic on Highway 97 at the intersection of Highway 29 will encounter intermittent lane restrictions on Wednesday as crews from Panhandle Grading & Paving perform resurfacing operations.

Drivers are reminded to use caution, and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

This work is part of the $5.7 million resurfacing project on Highway 97 from Highway 95A to the Alabama state line. The 22 mile project is scheduled to be complete in the fall.

I just wish they would start their traffic stops after we get the kids to school.

I drive 97 every morning as well, and I agree it has not been bad. I do suggest even when it gets slow to be cautious and watch the traffic in front of you. This morning I looked down, and then back up. The traffic had come to a quick halt, and I only slightly missed running into the back of someone. Always pays to be cautious!

Chumuckla: I drive 97 most days and it’s not to bad. The crew is doing a good job of trying to keep traffic moving. As always there are some drivers who are in a great rush getting some where and will try to pass between the traffic cones marking the center line. But these are the same folks who’ll pass on hills and curves where they can’t see what’s coming from the other way. The easy part is to just take a deep breath and slow down.

Sheesh….I’m glad I don’t have to drive that route every day!
