First case of an ” I E D ” in Escambia County Florida. IED= Idiot Errant Deer. Hey Bashore, I’ll see you this weekend. Stop by and visit.

Dave, you do know there are easier ways to get a new windshield, right? Glad you’re ok brother.

Mary N. I truly hope you do not have to be proven wrong the hard way. When one is going to hit you, watching only enables you to see it happen. I had one dash out of the woods in front of me, and disappear in the woods on the opposite side of the road so fast, that if I had of blinked, I would have missed it.

That deer should have been home with its parents. They have no business being out at that time of night. Nothing but trouble hanging out on the street corners.

Dave, glad to see that you are ok. from the looks of it, it could have been a hard day for the family, no doubt the good lord was with you. I know I hit one about 4 mos ago when it just jumped in front of my patrol car., theres not alot you can do, and I actually think I’ve seen more deer now than I did in January. Anyway glad your o.k. I’m thinking that deer may have been some distant kin to those deer in mansfield, and they have put a hit on you.

Was the deputy trying to tase the deer when he hit it?

  10. JKB on April 14th, 2010 7:06 pm

Unavoidable accident! Anybody that has hit one will attest to that. I am glad that the officer was not hurt. If the deer had gone through the windshield, the outcome may have been very different. Maybe they will get him a new tahoe!!

In most cases, the deer hits you, not the other way around.

Don’t care how safe you are…..you can’t read the mind of a deer….they bolt and run right out in front of you or into you or even try and jump you….better watch those just standing by the road, if you slow down and they hear the slow down, that’s when they go dashing in any direction.

Come on yall. Someone always has to put the spin on the story that maybe they weren’t paying attention to their driving etc. This time is was Mary N!!

for MaryM: My wife is a very safe driver and she hit one just at dusk due to it running from a wooded area into the roadway. I have lived here in the north end a long time and due to a lot of good luck have not hit one. I can not begin to count the times the deer would be right on the side of the road grazing and run into the path of my vehicle or a car coming the other way. As I said I have been lucky and if you haven’t hit one so have you.

Mary N. that doesn’t mean anything. You have just been lucky. We have never hit one either, but who knows one day he may just decide to attack us. LOL

Doesn’t look like he jumped over the hood, more like on the windshield. Thankful that the deputy did not recieve any injuries.

    JJ that was cute… LOL….
