About 1 in 3 North Escambia Residents Fail To Return Census Form

April 19, 2010

About one in three North Escambia area residents failed to return their census questionnaire by Friday’s official deadline, according to the Census Bureau.

census10.jpgAs of Friday, about 69 percent of Americans had mailed back their form, a number that closely mirrored the North Escambia area.

For those that did not return the form, there will be a knock a the door in the coming weeks. Census workers will begin going door to door on May 1 to count residents that did not return their 10-question form.

As of Friday, the lowest participation rate in the area has been in Century, were just 58 percent of household receiving a Census form had responded. The low participation rate, however, is actually an improvement over the 2000 Census when just 45 percent of Century residents returned the form.  Overall, each community in our area has a slightly higher participation rate in the 2010 Census than the rate 10 years ago.

Below is breakdown of the percent of citizens taking part in the Census in the North Escambia area.

Area towns and cities:

  • City of Atmore: 62%
  • Town of Century: 58%
  • Town of Flomaton: 67%
  • Town of Jay: 69%
  • City of Pensacola: 68%
  • Town of Pollard: 77%

Area communities (not including the towns and cities above):

  • Atmore:  56%
  • Barrineau Park: 73%
  • Byrneville: 64%
  • Cantonment: 68%
  • Century: 64%
  • Cottage Hill: 71%
  • Flomaton : 68%
  • Gonzalez: 67%
  • Jay: 71%
  • McDavid: 71%
  • Molino: 71%
  • Walnut Hill: 73%

The mail participation rate is the percentage of forms mailed back by households that received them. The Census Bureau developed this new measure in 2010, in part because of the current economy and higher rates of vacant housing.

census.jpgThe rate excludes households whose forms were returned to us by the U.S. Postal Service as “undeliverable,” strongly suggesting the house was vacant. According to the Census Bureau, there will be a followup on all forms returned as undeliverable to ensure everyone is counted.

I am not sending mine in just because they say its the law. Sorry I am waiting for them to arrest me so I can point out all the crackhouses on the way to whatever place they take me and ask them why they are not at those houses….. Ok so I know this will not happen but just please let me dream.

Bill big B …. Thanks for the info on the census. I will now try to contact a real live person ( wishful thinking ) so we can be counted.

look at it this way, the Census is trying to support the postal system with our taxes.

David also wondering what to do with the left over seven minutes
of the ten they assured me it would have taken

I didn’t receive any census forms for a while, but got the postcards telling me to hurry up and send them in (or else!)…then I received my first form, it was short – I filled it out and sent it in (it took only three minutes, not ten as advertised), then another postcard about sending it in arrived (or Else!). Then another Census Form (Same as the first). Apparently the Postal faucet is now turned “ON” with no “off” in sight.

Can’t decide to send it to the landfill, or help improve my Carbon Footprint by putting a match to them….WWAGD (What Would AlGore Do)?

    REGARDING:
” write illegal alien on the extras including 27 children with different daddys. That should give them a start in the right direction.”

Fun to think of, but most likely violates some federal law.

Also defeats purpose of Census, to take an accurate count. The census doesn’t care if they are citizens or not, if the children are sons of strangers or of a loving and committed couple. It will mostly be used to apportion representation in the House but will also be used for a slough of other things. all based on false information.

I know that’s standard in government, but we don’t have to contribute to the lies

David the hypocrite who listed himself as a Seminole
(or maybe not, we don’t know for sure which wife was our great great grandmother and the second WAS Seminole even if I LOOK white)

Now see what you all have done my not returning your Census. This bunch in control now will never figure this out.
All of you that got more than one, just fill them out and write illegal alien on the extras including 27 children with different daddys. That should give them a start in the right direction.

I am confused as to why everyone is not receiving one. It cannot be an accurate count if everyone is not included. The government knows where to get my taxes from, but does not think I am worthy of their census.

Still have not received a form so I’m expecting a knock on my door any day now. We have to provide jobs for people so this is one way to do it. Wonder if I can claim my furry little friend. He lives here and enjoys all the perks of having a home. No comments, please, I’m just kidding. I;m glad Walnut Hill and Molino responded so well.

It doesn’t matter if you fill it out or not. The CROOKED goverment is gonna continue to give the money to the ones who won’t get out and earn it. If we continue to support the LAZY people of this country , then we will support their offspring who will learn how to beat the system and live off of our hard earned money. I don’t want my money to support someone who would rather collect a check from the goverment instead of getting their lazy butt up and going to work everyday. What if we all quit work ? Who will support the lazy losers of this world? Why don’t we ask Pelosi and Obama?

  14. Susan on April 19th, 2010 1:16 pm

We did not receive a census form to fill out. Reading the other post, the government doesn’t have their act together if some people are getting several and other’s like us haven’t received even one.

  15. EMD on April 19th, 2010 12:12 pm

They have absolutely NO constitutional right to require that we tell them whether we rent, own, owe a mortgage, or are living in our home for free, nor for our phone number. I wrote on those two, “Not required. Unconstitutional.” They practically own us now. Perhaps they need to know where their slaves are, and also, those that are marked for annihilation. They didn’t believe it in Germany either. Do they still teach history in our schools?

Please be nice to me when I come to your house and ask you those 10 little questions. I’m only doing it out of patriotism and the need to serve my fellow man……That and the $12.50 per hour!!!!!!

  18. Bill, big B little ill on April 19th, 2010 8:39 am

Maybe you folks that did not get one, they just want to fine you the $5,000.00 after all the Gov. needs your money. Just kidding, they make huge mistakes at your expence all the time. Nothing to be alarmed about….they know who you are and their watching your every move. :)

  19. Tanya on April 19th, 2010 7:32 am

I didn’t get one either. Had I gotten one, I would have been happy to fill it out.

  20. Angi on April 19th, 2010 7:28 am

Ours have already been sent in too, but after sending the one; we received another.
If you do happen to receive one, it doesn’t take that long to fill it out. So fill it out and send it in so that you can avoid them knocking at your door…

  22. Waste of taxpyer dollars on April 19th, 2010 7:14 am

Uncle Sam already has this information available through school records, social security numbers, taxes, etc.

Why do we need to waste millions in taxpayer dollars to collect information that already exists?

    Just another government boondoggle IMO.

  23. Mommy of 2 on April 19th, 2010 7:12 am

We sent ours in and they sent us another one stating they did not recieve it. Maybe they lack in organization skills to keep up with the incoming forms. My husband filled another out and sent it back in, so if we get another it will go to file 13.

I worked for the Census Bureau. Both back in 2000, and last year for the preliminary work. I have been hired again to start in May. I didn’t get any Census forms in the mail. One can’t send them back if none were received to begin with..
