Dumb had nothing to do with this man’s behavior..I know people who are really dumb and would never do something like this…depraved is a much better word for this man.And the Bible says in the last days, men will have depraved minds and become reprobates….we are there people…

Angela, I just read the comments, and that is not what was said. Why would you be so hateful anyway? She just apologized for offending someone. I just hope our justice system works this time and that the truth will come out.

bronwyn: get real your way of thinking is more than likey going to send us over the hill as a society/consentual would indicate that the child, and I highly emphasize the word child, gave heror his permission, my thought is, how would you feel if this was your child whether they were 7 or 17. Abuse is abuse any way that you look at it. In the smallest chance that you have not crawled out of the cave that you still live in, sex with a minor is illegal

  4. Concerned on March 14th, 2010 9:19 am

Here’s my Law: If anyone commits any Abuse on a child under 18, (don’t care what kind of Abuse) they lose their rights, and are put to death immediately.
This may cut down on the monsters that do commit crimes on our Children. And prevent them from getting out of jail and doing it again. I’m so tired of hearing and seeing these monsters committing crimes on our children. Its time to change the laws and punishments for this type of crime.
I would rather have my tax money going for a burial or cremation, then on court fees and etc.

Noh8rs, when I posted my comment, only the first counts were made.

DJ, what you are describing is not the same scenario I was thinking. I am very sorry about what happened to you, and I didn’t mean to offend you.

It’s not good to try and place the whole field of law enforcement in the same barrel. Don’t care what field of work you chose, you will get a bad apple or one go bad. It’s impossible to know a man or womans heart and soul. Over the years I have worked around people that were what you might call the cream of the crop, people you would have never dreamed of doing some of the things they were caught doing. You never know when something in a human may change their lives to point we would call them sick, perverted, or what ever title you want to place on them. Some could be your best friend, some a family member, other just someone you know. Job titles don’t make perfect people, and we don’t live in a perfect world.
Only the blood of Jesus can cleans a mans soul. After that we still slip up every now and then. Jesus can save your soul and give you eternal life no matter what you have done. But that don’t keep you from the concequences of the world. Prices to pay even your life sometimes.

I would surely believe that there must be substantiating evidence due to the fact that there are multiple charges. However, innocent until proven guilty is how the justice system is designed to work. IF he is found guilty in a court of law, I believe that is very shameful and will be another mark against others in the law enforcement field. People please remember that even if he is proven guilty and convicted this man is not the norm, but the exception to the rule. The worst of all of this is how it will change/affect the live(s) of the victim(s). He will be entitled to Protective Management, which he can request and most likely will. His victims were never offered that much mercy from him. I can only hope that if he is convicted that his cell mate will show him the same courtesy that he has shown to the victims.

BRONWYNN……So are you saying the 182 counts my father had against him was consensual? NOT…..that is a count for each picture and/or offense! And yes each of these counts was over a “TEN YEAR” period, so it is possible to have that many counts! Maybe you need to reread my post again….cause I stated if the idiot is “GUILTY” he needs to be put underneath the prison system. On another note, I can’t see a young child under the age of “12″ making a story up like this. So, BRONWYNN, you must share the same thoughts my mother did all those years ago……I was old enough to know better? If so, you are as sick as the idiot that is suppose to serve and protect the community…..

Florida Statute subsection 775.082 states Capital Felony- Death or life imprisonment with no chance of parole.

Guilty or not guilty, lets hope that the truth comes out.

Bill praying for truth and the victim, God knows who the victim is.

  12. Klondike Kid on March 12th, 2010 2:06 am

If this man is innocent, I hope he is exonerated because in prison being both cop & child molester it will be the same as giving him the death penalty. He should know what’s in store for him as a LEO.

  13. A. Davis on March 11th, 2010 9:34 pm

We all can write about him and call him names but until we stand together against these people they will win. When is the last time anyone checked to see if they had any offenders or preditors in your neighborhood? The funny thing is how often people forgive these people to live around them. But thats how it goes we as people talk about crackheads otherscum also scum like this man , but we never report things we see wrong. BUT WORST OF ALL IF WE DO WHY IS IT NOTHING GETS DONE UNTIL THE WORST HAPPENS!

  14. Lynne B on March 11th, 2010 5:00 pm

DON’T JUMP THE GUN. This man helped my family many times. Was a terrific neighbor and is INNOCENT until proven guilty. UNTIL you know the facts, hear the full case, PLEASE do not pass judgement. I, for one, do not believe the accusations and know who they came from. However, if he is guilty of such crimes, let it be proven in court! My heart is with you Mitch and boys!

  16. molinojim on March 11th, 2010 8:00 am

The story gets worse (if that is possible) by way of the PNJ. They did a fair job of ID’ing the victim. I had heard a rumor from a friend in Milton about who the victim was and it sounds correct. From reading the story it sound like a lot of touching and one try at a sexual act. So very sad for the victim who had to trust this person and now her life has been damaged. Hope she is able to get professional help and go on with her life.

“Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant ”

Maybe all law enforcement officers should be looked at more closely. It seems to happen a lot

I think he is wearing one of those suits that they put on suicidal prisoners. Give him back his clothes.

  19. interested reader on March 10th, 2010 4:31 pm

I SINCERELY HOPE THIS MAN SPENDS THE REST OF HIS MISERABLE LIFE IN JAIL. IT IS EVEN WORSE WHEN IT’S SOMEONE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, A POSITION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SERVE AND PROTECT. SAD!

  20. whitepunknotondope on March 10th, 2010 3:34 pm

What child would let that slob anywhere near them?

  21. anydaynow on March 10th, 2010 11:50 am

Bob-Liberal judges?? It’s a bit hard to place accountability for prosecution on judges of any stripe when law enforcement agencies won’t even write up a report of a sex crime, and prosecutors won’t take a case before a judge. It hasn’t been too many years ago that was the case with both the SRCSO and State’s Attorney office.

On another note, it is my opinion that once someone is proven beyond the shadow of doubt of sexually abusing a child their hands should be cut off.

  23. Bronwynn on March 10th, 2010 11:25 am

First, to DJ, please read the article again. It says “between the ages of 12 and 18″, not “under 12″. We should not judge people, especially without knowing what really happened or if it indeed did. If it is true, with an estimated 120 counts, it sounds like a consensual relationship with someone who could be as old as 17. I’m not condoning this kind of behavior, but in my opinion, this is not the same as someone who is attracted to little children. This allegedly took place years ago. I know people who have been accused of similar things, and I can honestly say that not all accusations like this are true, and often times they are retaliatory. Just like any other police officer, I’m sure he has made some people angry, just doing his job. One more thing, it’s a mug shot, not a glamour shot.

  24. - on March 10th, 2010 10:35 am

What does he have on in the picture?

  25. psu1earl on March 10th, 2010 9:28 am

If I read the PNJ article correctly, they were investigating another case when evidence against this officer was found…That tells me it’s not just a she said/he said…I’m not even sure if the victim was involved until after other evidence was found.

  26. molinojim on March 10th, 2010 8:13 am

The story in the PNJ is that this happen several years ago. If he is tried and found guilty or not his life has been destroyed. It will come down to a she said/he said case and will be hard to prove.

  27. Dave on March 10th, 2010 7:35 am

    Tremendous,
I agree on the innocent until proven guilty rule and too may times I see people want to lynch someone just because the cops say they did something. Often it seems to me that the cops just round up someone they think ought to be in jail anyway to “solve” a case.

However, in this case they are accusing one of their own. A lieutenant no less! With the blue wall and code of silence and all of the other stuff they believe in, I really doubt they would accuse this guy unless he was caught red handed.

  28. Angi on March 10th, 2010 7:14 am

    To molinojim…
Maybe all of them aren’t bad, but hell; do we really know which ones???

  29. Tremendous on March 10th, 2010 6:36 am

I’m outraged like most but, I thought for a moment. Aren’t we in America the land of the free, are we not innocent until proven gulity. If he has commited such a act. He will be judged by the same measure of law he gave to the child, only it will be in prison, with big men named Bubba.

  32. over it on March 10th, 2010 1:07 am

Who can we trust? well let me try that again… who else besides GOD, can we trust now? these stories just make me sick. 120 counts, really, really!!! these people who are in positions to protect and or serve the public should honor that oath they take. it is things like this that make me hesitant to tell my kids to go to the police with issues and that they are the good guys (& gals). I can hear it now “does anyone know you came here….. now don’t tell anyone about this…” I am disgusted and hope there are not more like him! I hope he is the exception and not the standard.

  33. DJ Sheffield on March 9th, 2010 11:28 pm

Once again I hear of someone else molesting a child under the age of 12. What the heck is wrong with these people, especially LEO? Myself being a sexual abuse victim this sickens me that another innocent life of a child is taken away. I can only hope and pray that if this idiot is guilty that he is put underneath the prison system just as my father was. It saddens me that LEO would do this kind of thing when they are suppose to serve and protect individuals. My heart and prayers go out to the innocent child(ren) that he has done this too. Her/His life has been severly changed forever. This is when that child NEEDS her/his parents the most and the biggest support system to know that it’s NOT their fault for the LEO actions. May GOD be with each of you during this tragic time!

  34. wow on March 9th, 2010 10:57 pm

The law in alot of states has gone down hill its horrible I wont trust a officer if my life depended on it. I trust myself and will do just a fine job of protecting myself.

  35. robert on March 9th, 2010 10:38 pm

this kind of behavior is sickining… especially by s sherriff deputy.. it seem both escambia and santa rosa need to do alot of house cleaning…

  36. Bob on March 9th, 2010 9:11 pm

I have advocated in the past and I will say once more. The antiquated laws and liberal judges have made this situation worse than people can imagine. Never will this kind of behavior subside until we have laws that keep these kind of people locked up for the rest of their lives. Perverts and child molesters will always go back to their ways, there is no cure. They should be given a choice. If ever they leave prison they should be castrated. No questions asked.

  37. Jayyy on March 9th, 2010 9:08 pm

    Sad. Pitiful. Disgusting.

  38. Me again on March 9th, 2010 8:49 pm

I agree that this is horrible, but we all need to remember that he is innocent until proven guilty.
Whether he is indeed innocent or is later proven guilty, I am even more concerned for the victim. If he did it, this child will have a really hard time dealing with what has been done to him./her. If he is innocent, the child will still have a hard time dealing with all this. Either way, the child is on a long and very difficult road.

Lest anyone misconstrue my words, I was a victim of sexual abuse as a child, rape as a teen and have spent most of my adult life counseling victims of these crimes. I’ve seen both sides of the story and unfortunately, there are a few, and I do mean only a few, situations in which the accusations are not founded. Regardless of the outcome, as I said, this child is going to need a lot of help to move on.

  39. molinojim on March 9th, 2010 8:42 pm

Angi—Please don’t paint all of the SRSO officers with the same brush. There are a lot of them who would like to break his neck right now. He dumbness will cast a shadow over a lot of good hard working men and women. Hard to believe he would be this dumb.

  40. concerned on March 9th, 2010 8:40 pm

I just keep saying what is this world coming to! It has gotten so bad it’s hard to trust anyone, even people you have known all your life. How sad!

  41. Angi on March 9th, 2010 8:08 pm

OMG!!! 120 counts of sexual battery on a child between ages12 – 18… This is sickening, he really needs to be put away for life. Getting pretty bad when you can’t even trust the law!!!

  42. molinojim on March 9th, 2010 7:48 pm

    Dear God—what next.
