Charges To Be Dropped In Atmore Child Abuse Case

March 17, 2010

A settlement has been reached in the case of an Atmore man who was accused of child abuse along with his kindergarten teacher wife.

Terry Desmond Linam will enter a pretrial diversion program, Alabama court officials said this week. He and his wife, Tracy Linam, were indicted by an Escambia County (Ala.) Grand Jury in April, 2009, on three counts of aggravated child abuse and three counts of domestic violence.

All charges against Tracy Linam were already dropped, and charges against Terry Linam will be dropped upon his successful completion of the pretrial diversion program.

Tracy Linam is a kindergarten teacher at Rachel Patterson Elementary School in Atmore, where she was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case. The children in the case were not her students; they were reportedly Desmond Linam’s from a previous marriage.

The Linam case was handed over to the Alabama Attorney General for prosecution because the local district attorney had a conflict of interest with the case.

Anyone who really knew Desmond and Tracy knew that this was a joke from the beginning. They will put it all back together because that is the kind of folks they are.

I know the Linams and their families are so glad this case is coming to a close. As the old saying goes “The truth will set you free”! It’s a shame they’ve had to spend so much money on lawyers for themselves and the children. It would really be wonderful if the person who made all of these horrible alligations was made to repay the Linams for attorneys fees and the money that Tracy lost from being off from work. It’s a shame that in todays society a person is guilty until proven innocent!!! What happened to being innocent until proven guilty???? This case has been ongoing for almost a year! Look at the time and taxpayers money that was wasted on nonsense! Maybe the Judges of Escambia county can get on with prosecuting REAL CRIMINALS!!!! I know they are glad this case is coming to a close as well. Desmond and Tracy love those children and would NEVER do anything to harm them. I do hope and pray the court system orders EXTENSIVE PSYCHIATRIC COUNSELING for the children at the expense of the accuser.

I am glad I never felt like this was true. He is a good man and I know he loves his children. They were his heart. Get on with life and make the best of it. The children need both him and their mother to be civil to each other. Because they are stuck together the rest of their lives because of the kids.
