Census Bureau To Hire 31 Census Takers In Century Area

March 23, 2010

The U.S. Census Bureau needs to hire 31 census takers in the Century area before next week. The jobs pay $12 per hour plus a 50-cent per mile reimbursement.

The Census jobs are part-time and will last about eight weeks.

There are two chances to register and take a skills test: Thursday, 6 p.m. at the Century Ag Building (next to the nursing home) and Friday, 10 a.m. at the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church.

True,$9.00/hr is not a bad wage for this area. I think the point Century girl was making is why publish that you are paying $12 when you are only paying $9? That *is* misleading.
I might add that I took the test almost a year ago, made a perfect score, and did not hear from anyone until about 3 weeks ago. Since then,I have received two calls on my answering machine giving me 30 minutes to respond if I wanted a job. That’s correct….30 minutes. I suspect you have to be related to someone to get the $12 salary and maybe just 5 or 6 hours to respond. i mean,at least give people time to get home from the unemployment office.

I’d have to say that for those who are unemployed, any job around here making $9.00 an hour is better than nothing. My husband and I consider ourselves highly blessed to even have jobs right now, but if we didn’t, we’d jump at the chance for a $9/hour job even if it was just for 15 hours a week.

This is misleading! Folks that I know have been hired.. It’s $9.00 per hour snd about 15 hrs per week! Imagine The Gov misleading anyone! You know the point is don’t “Bait n Switch” … Just be honest!
