Home Invasion In Walnut Hill

March 19, 2010

Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a home invasion in Walnut Hill Friday morning.

The incident was reported at 8:49 a.m. in the 6500 block of Highway 97. Two males entered the home through a rear window or door. When the adult male resident heard noises, he met the pair in the hallway of the home. One was armed with a handgun.

The suspects turned and ran when confronted by the resident, according to deputies.

Both suspects were white males. The male in the camouflage jacket was described as being about 6-foot tall, between 25-30 years old, and with a military style haircut. The other was described as wearing a gray hoodie jacket, 55-60 years old with gray hair.

Both men fled the scene in a blue truck with a roll bar. The truck was described as being possibly a Chevrolet or GMC model.

The truck was possibly spotted at a Shell gas station in Atmore about 9:15 a.m. Atmore Police reviewed survelliance video from the store, but determined it was not the suspect vehicle or the suspects.

I know this is old news, I feel inspired to share this message to someone who may need to hear it::

I lift my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip- He who watches over you will not slumber . indeed He who watches over Isreal will not slumber or sleep. The Lord watches over you- the Lord is your shade on your right hand: the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm- He will watch over your life. the Lord will watch over your coming and going BOTH NOW AND FOREVER MORE. Psalm 121

    I have a wife, and she’s pregnant
My hand gun is my first and only resort.

Best home defense weapon hands down. 12Ga. pump shotgun, cut down to 18″. Makes a mess of your home, and intruder, but you are not a victim either. On another note, home invaders upon capture and conviction should be put to death….Think about it. If they are bold enough to enter your home, they are bold enough to kill you, and probably will.

    REGARDING:
“I was using Bill until I noticed someone else using Bill, didn’t want to be confused with him. Just a way of being me, myself and I.”

and it works. further it implies you bear “little ill” will to anyone

roy – is correct by saying not to pull a gun if you are not prepared to use it.
Wow- an AR-15 will work and work well, if you have time to get to it, I know how tough glocks can be, my wife hates mine! Use what you have, know how to use it, and don’t pull it unless you are willing to use it.

Deadly force is always a last resort but self preservation is not (a last resort)!!

    Be Safe.

I am a certified NRA Handgun Instructor, I taught many classes when I lived in Maryland and always made my students aware of one basic fact; the handgun is a tool of last resort. A dog, any dog or even just having a bowl and a rope outside to make strangers think that you have a dog, is a major deterrent. It’s far easier to break into a house without a dog, a dog will usually take you off of the target list.

Another thing that I taught was mindset, never pull a firearm unless you are ready and willing to use it, not everyone is. Most criminals can sense indecision or weakness, given the chance they will take the firearm away from you and either beat you with it or use it on you.

Beyond that, the Castle Doctrine applies in your house.

    Thanks EMD.

Christian brothers need to stick together. After all we are family just waiting on that horn to blow. I’ve known by the comments posted here on this site that you and lots of others here are really good people.

Bill hoping that no one has to use a deadly force defending their home, property or person. But understands if you do.

Ok joe I am a girl and my hubby has a glock 40cal and it was hard for me to pull it back 2 load it and we got the AR 15 and I can load it fine no problem and it is in a very easy spot for me 2 get it so I just guess its whatever is best for me to use

As we grow older we become easy targets for home invasions as there are cowardly people who may observe the elderly working in their yards during the day and then invade our homes at night. That is precisely we own a 38 revolver and have it within easy reach at night. (Yes, we have been trained on using this weapon and it is secured during the day). We also have two very alert dogs to help warn us of intruders. I would never hesitate to use our weapon if someone broke into my home at night. They are aware of the risks and deserve the consequences! Don’t mess with grannie!

I guess it is time to offer some shooting classes and lessons on defensive shooting. I hate to tell all of the AR-15 owners this, but that is a poor choice for home defense. fighting a battle,or maybe a war, defending property, sure. but in a home you have 3 numbers 3,3,15. 3 rounds, in 3 seconds within 15 feet. all home invasion and home defense shooting is very close quarters. long guns are very ineffective for “quick” defense, as they are large and hard to get up. unless you happen to carry your shotgun with you all the time. if you hear a noise and have time to get the shotgun, that is great, but if the door is coming open you have to act fast. a gun in a drawer or a case somewhere else does not help either. as I type this I have my side arm on the table next to me. if anyone needs lessons or instruction, I can provide this. I will need to think of a way for people to contact me or to get a hold of them as I don’t think it is safe for anyone to announce or post that they need help or that they can provide help as this can make them a target! I will send willam a message and ask him what he would suggest. Be safe.

Concerned Citizen …if it make that much differance I can change the lower case b to a capital B. But I’m just not that picky about it. After all I’m not writing a book, nor am I perfect. Those little imperfections identify us sometimes, don’t you think. :)

EMD your right. I beleive everyone has a chance to be saved by the grace of God. But once you take that last breath of life it’s over.

Most everyone in the north end has a gun, lots of them will not hesitate to use it.

To Concerned Citizen …why do I have the user name bill, big b little ill?

I was using Bill until I noticed someone else using Bill, did’nt want to be confused with him. Just a way of being me, myself and I. Hope that answered your question.

This may have been the same truck that was sitting across on the side of the road in front of my house wjth their parking lights on when we came in one night about two weeks ago at 11:30 pm. They went just a few feet up the road and then turned around and took off back down HWY 4 towards Byrneville. I think we got home in time. They made several trips up and down Hwy 4

Don’t come to my home unless you’re gonna clean it for me. My dogs will scare you off anyway. They bark if they hear a butterfly burp next door.

    Off topic:

bill, big b little ill — why do you not have the following user-name:

Bill, big B little ill ?????? And if you didn’t think of that, it makes more sense.

  23. EMD on March 19th, 2010 8:18 pm

You are right bill, big b little ill ‘

I suspect most, if not all the folks in Walnut Hill are armed. I hope these lost souls wake up while they still have the breath God breathed into them. When that’s gone, they will have nothing, if He is not first in their hearts. So sad.

I was scared to death when I saw the report this morning before work ,but thanks william I made sure my door was locked So busy every day in and out I always forget to lock the door when I am home didnt used to have to do that . And to be honest I hate guns guess I have always been terrified of them so I kinda feel a little helpless when I think what if that was my house ..

  26. bill, big b little ill on March 19th, 2010 5:31 pm

Somebody out there knows who these two are. Not doing them a favor by not turning them in. People are getting very tired of crime in the North end. The next home could be the last stop before the graveyard.

I’m Sorry if I seem to extreme, but I’m a correctional officer and have to deal with convicts forty hours a week. Many of them have no plans of changing and will continue to rob, rape, kill, and molest children. We have a legal right to defend our homes and family in this great state of Florida.

    P.S. Is that better?

  29. WOW on March 19th, 2010 1:47 pm

Our area is a honey hole apparently. Glad they didn’t hurt anyone or get anything. I just wished the guy would have shot them.
