Snow In Atmore, Walnut Hill, Century, Flomaton, Jay, McDavid and North
February 12, 2010
Thanks for joining us today for our 12 hours of live snow coverage here on NorthEscambia.com.
Lots of snow remains on the ground north of I-65, and there is scattered snow between I-65 and the Alabama/Florida line. There is very little, if any, snow remaining on the ground in North Escambia.
Snow was reported across the area in Atmore, Walnut Hill, Century, Molino, Flomaton and Jay.
Saturday morning we’ll have a complete snow recap, including hundreds of photos that we have not posted today that were taken from North Escambia to Monroeville and Evergreen. We will have our photos, plus dozens more reader submitted photos — even an eight and a half foot tall snowman built by some Flomaton High School students.
Don’t forget to email your snow pictures to news@northescambia.com so that we can run your photos on Saturday morning.

I live in south Escambia county, and really wanted to see some snow. We went to Brewton AL and had a great time. There were snow men everywhere, and people were having a blast. I posted some pics on my blog site also, just visit the link in my signature.
What some gorgeous photo’s, I love the little snowmen; they are so cute… Today was so much fun in Byrneville with the snow. This was my daughters first time ever seeing it snow…
We had about 3 inches or so on Old Atmore Road in Flomaton! However, what was on the ground melted pretty fast but other surfaces are still accumilated but slowly melting as well. It was a fascinating day!
Snow in Cantonment at 1:30 on Kingsfield Road, not much but fun to watch.
Snow at my house in Bratt is looking really pretty. My sister and I are trying to make the best of it. =]
It’s really snowing good in McDavid!!
It’s really snowing in Byrneville now….snowman time!!
snow in oak grove really pretty
It’s snowing in Molino, I am off of White Ash Rd. I didn’t think I was gonna get any snow but finally I have. It’s not sticking but it’s still great to see it again.
Rain, Sleet, Snow, in Enon.
Purdue Road is getting pelted with the biggest snowflakes I’ve ever seen. Coming down really hard.
Its really coming down at my house in Bratt!!!
Has anyone heard if any roads will be closed from Molino, North? I am working in P-cola and need to know if I can make it home!
We live in Davisville and it has been snowing here for probably an hour or so steady….not a whole lot of accumulation though…we also got some earlier this morning at about 7:30. The roof tops look pretty white but the stuff on the ground is melting pretty quick.
i was on my way to work on north hwy 99 and as i crossed into the alabama side my car started sliding into the wrong lane { thank God no one was in that lane or i would have hit them before i knew it} needless to say i called off work and turned around and went home and that is were i will be till conditions are better i hope everyone stays safe
does anyone know if any of the main roads from pensacola to northescambia area are beginning to ice over yet?
it’s snow really hard here and the ground is cover with white snow
> THE PEOPLE WHO WENT INTO THE WATER DITCH ON HWY 29? ARE THEY OK?
There were no injuries reported.
WE LIVE IN NORTH MOLINO..RIGHT ON BARTH LINE..WE HAVEN’T SEEN ANY SNOW YET..MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN UP SINCE LIKE 6AM WAITING..SHE IS 5YRS..SOO EXITED…I HOPE IT HAPPENS…
EVERY ONE PLEASE BE SOO CAREFULL…
..DID THE PEOPLE WHO WENT INTO THE WATER DITCH ON HWY 29? ARE THEY OK?
@ April… No I really don’t think it would be a good idea to drive to Bayminette tonight, not with all of this mixed rain, sleet and snow…
@ Northview mom… I do hope that your friends are ok after sliding into a ditch, not a good idea to be on the roads right now…
Byrneville area… It keeps changing back and forth from rain, sleet and snow; I wish it would just continueously snow, the kids did have so much fun while it was coming down snow pretty hard earlier this morning, even my neighbors dog had loads of fun, she was jumping up and catching the snow in her mouth…lol
There were some big wet maybe snow flakes in Molino—but is back to rain now. Had a vehicle go off 97 about one mile north of 29. They ended up in a ditch filled with water—hello insurance company. I wonder if the Geico lizard can pull a car filled with water.
yea it’s turn back to rain here and yea there is a car in a ditch with water on hwy 21 near j mar trucking.
It’s raining again in Byrneville. But my kids did get to have a small snowball fight. Hopefully more snow soon!
I live in Walnut Hill and it was coming down pretty good at around 8ish….Now im in atmore and its just raining. is it supposed to pick back up?
The picture from earlier in Mexia doesn’t do any justice to the amount of snow we have now. It’s really coming down hard. I’m estimating around 3 inches here so far. We measured 2 inches earlier in our footsteps and the foot prints are almost completely filled back in with snow again. It’s beautiful!
Well mainly all its doing here in the Bratt/Davisville area is raining but it keeps switching back and forth from rain to snow. Mybe it’ll pick one soon.
Mixed here in Brewton, snow rain ice…
It’s “slushing” in Davisville, with occasional snow.
If you have to drive, a front-wheel drive car is preferable than a rear wheel drive truck. If all you have is a truck, place weight in the bed (sandbags, whatever) and you can also deflate your tires to about 20psi to get better grip. Use low gears, try not to hit the brakes suddenly, and believe it or not you may get better traction from that strip of snow or ice along the edge of the road than you get from the two tires tracks down the middle.
If you get stuck (spinning tires) you may be able to use your floor mats for traction to get you moving again.
Been there many times, done all that!
Nothing but rain in Cottage Hill. Darn! I wanted some snow.
Thanks, William! I am so thankful for the updated info on here. I am trying to get up and back before it gets ugly. It is fun seeing reader photos. I am between Cantonment and Molino with San Diego/Pensacola kids waiting to see snow. Our homeschool is not closed though! But we will take recess for snow.
April it would NOT be a good idea to get on the roads today for any reason
Good, continually-updating radar site, with snow/sleet/rain lines:

Readers: How bad are the roads in Molino? Any ice? I need to go help a lady there this morning. Just want to stay home by the fire.
DOES ANY ONE THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE TO BAYMINNITE TONIGHT AT AROUND 9:00?
no snow for molino?
The snow has been really coming down here in Byrneville…

It is coming your way Splat. Coming down good in Century now
Just talked to a friend driving north to see snow. She says the snow is coming down hard with large flakes on Hwy 113 between Flomaton, Al and Interstate 65. But as we were talking they started sliding and are currently in a ditch…so, be patient. I think I’m waiting for this to come to me.

Monroeville….is that in the south…just kidding…the beach Monroeville, how did you get that sand up in those trees.

Rain, rain and more rain…no ice, no snow…

Its snowing in Monroeville. So far its alittle less than an inch but still coming
I’m so disappointed… but haven’t given up yet.
If it looks like rain, feels like rain and quacks like rain; it’s probably only rain. The precipitation here is pure rain and the Weather Underground temperature for this area right now is 35 degrees.

V- I am totally not being a smart aleck (I am a snow dummie )… wouldn’t ice piling up on the windshield be snow? what’s the difference?
there is ice piling up on my windshield, now. i’m in canoe.
It’s sleeting in byrneville now…
“SPLAT” that was too funny….a “sleetman” hahaha
