Man Charged With Cutting Outside Davisville Bar

February 2, 2010

An Atmore man has been charged with a weekend cutting outside of a Davisville bar.

stuckeyjoshuawayne1.jpgJoshua Wayne Stuckey, 33 of Highway 31, Atmore was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after the incident about 12:30 Sunday morning outside of the Grey Goose on Highway 97 just south of  the Alabama state line.

Escambia County (Fla.) deputies were dispatched at 12:48 Sunday morning to Atmore Community Hospital in reference to a stabbing. The victim, a 34-year old male, told deputies that he and his wife decided to go to the Grey Goose after leaving the casino. Inside the bar, the victim saw his ex-girlfriend and her husband, Joshua Wayne Stuckey, and he told deputies he spoke to her.

After going outside the bar with friends, the victim said Stuckey came up behind him and cut him in the lower abdomen with a 6-inch long knife. The two got into a short fight, according to the arrest report. Then the victim’s wife drove him to the Atmore hospital for treatment. According the ESCO report on the incident, the victim suffered a 9-centimeter long and 4-centimeter deep cut to his abdomen, but there were no injuries to his major organs.

Stuckey met with Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy James Gilman at the Century precinct, where he said the victim had poked his wife with a finger while inside the bar. When he left the bar, Stuckey said the victim came up behind him and hit him in the head. Stuckey said he then hit the victim with his fist and kicked him in the stomach with his boot. But he said that at no point did he pull a knife. Stuckey’s wife corroborated his story.

While at the sheriff’s precinct, Stuckey admitted that he had a pocket knife, which Deputy Gilman described as being about 6-inches long. Gilman also observed what appeared to be dried blood on Stuckey’s pants. Gilman wrote in his report that Stuckey had no obvious injuries from being punched as he reported.

Stuckey was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and booked into the Escambia Count Jail. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Sometimes you have to wonder what’s wrong with people… Oh well, hopefully justice will be served for the wrong-doer.

Tom-Apples and oranges; the church shootings that I recall hearing about were usually terrorist or pre-meditated types. I don’t think we saw anything where two folks were singing and just got into an argument and began an armed conflict….

OU812-contrary to your statement, in our legal system, we don’t prove innocence, we prove guilt. I’m sure William will print a follow up, be it good or bad; he usually does.

Banning alcohol and bars didn’t work so well years ago. Maybe we should ban knives…yeah, that’s it. We’ll just ban anything that someone can hurt someone else with.

    Bad deal for all.

The truth is, no matter what happened it could have been avoided. Sounds like both of these men are acting like little boys.

  6. BIG MOMMA on February 4th, 2010 8:51 pm

DON’T WORRY!!!! THERE WILL DEFFINETLY BE A FOLLOW UP ON THIS STORY!!! THE TRUTH SHALL SET HIM FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we go again with this GUILTY until Proven INNOCENT!!!! We have it backwards folks….If the BUTCHER is proved of his innocence I would hope there will be a FRONT PAGE follow-up with his photo, clean shaven and holding a little kitty(harmless) and a full page apology from the local media explaining how it went in court and the ruling.

    Get A Life,
You should compliment the Wife of Victim on such kind words to the man that stabbed her husband no matter what the circumstances are.

  9. Jason on February 4th, 2010 4:03 pm

Innocent huh! That’s one bad boot. I got to get me a pair of those. Mess with me and I’ll just kick you in the stomach. Must be like some kinda James Bond boots or something. Lucky Josh didn’t have time to blast him with his raygun!

@Know your neighbor… “you never hear of someone being cut at church”….. what a chinless wonder you are, schmuck. Just because you haven’t heard of it doesn’t mean it has never happened… but i’ve heard numerous cases of people being SHOT IN CHURCHES/SYNAGOGUES just last year alone!!!

Oh and Joe I am THE CHEF and can definately handle all the heat thats in kitchen, the bar, or basically anywhere I need to be to to do it.

    Wife of victim,
Did any of these thoughts you prayed Josh never have to endure ever cross your mind before you left your children at home so you and your significant other could go out drinking?

  13. Michelle Reaves on February 3rd, 2010 7:36 pm

    Was there any witnesses?

  14. Joe on February 3rd, 2010 7:34 pm

We all know that Josh Stuckey is innocent. He did not do this and everyone there knows it. This is all because a man couldn’t control hisself and has embarrassed his wife in the bar countless times. He is innocent till proven guilty and the victim has no witnesses of the fact. So if the victims wife was worried about her husband she should learn to control his actions around other women. If you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen.

    INNOCENT TO PROVEN GUILTY!!!

  15. WIFE OF VICTIM on February 3rd, 2010 5:33 pm

AS THE WIFE OF THE VICTIM, I PRAY THAT YOU – JOSH – NEVER HAVE TO GO THRU WHAT YOU HAVE PUT OUR FAMIILY THRU. I COULD HAVE LOST MY HUSBAND, AND OUR KIDS COULD HAVE LOST THEIR FATHER.

Haven’t seen you in awhile Josh but what the hell happened to you???? You used to be so sweet! I remember thinking “sure wish I had a boyfriend like that”. Hmmmm Val is right. You should have been in church. Let your pride go. You will either end up dead or in prison. Your son must be very sad, especially if you end up in jail.

  21. Know your neighbor on February 2nd, 2010 2:37 pm

Seems the local bars in the Atmore and Century area are full of cut throats. It won’t be long before the call will be made to the morgue instead of the sheriffs department. Real men ?……what a joke these men are ! You never hear of someone being cut at church, they get what they ask for.

  22. Splat on February 2nd, 2010 12:03 pm

    > do we have a name on the other man the so called victim

We don’t identify victims of violent crimes, in most instances.

  25. an observer on February 2nd, 2010 11:33 am

just a thought, when did a poke with a finger (by whoever) be returned by a “poke” with a knife? What if he had of killed this man? Judge would ask, son, what made you stab him? He poked my wife with his finger…DUHMMMB, reaaaal DUHMB! Hang out in places like that, that kind of stuff is bound to happen…drunks, fights, knives, guns, ….sometimes leads to ….murder.

    Who is Keith?

  29. Valerie on February 2nd, 2010 10:53 am

Joshua, I am disappointed in you. What were you doing in a bar anyway? You were raised better that that! Let the law fight you battles if you were in the right. There are some battles not worth fighting. Weigh the consequences. Don’t shame the family name.

Should have been in church. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.”

  30. bill on February 2nd, 2010 10:45 am

Opinions are funny things, it’s of my opinion that they can close all the bars and Juke joints. That won’t stop people from doing something really stupid. You can take the guns and knives away from them and the will use a pile or chain. But remember about those opinions, that how the Constitution got started, how laws are made, and how people are elected. When you go to the doctor he or she will Doctor you according to a bunch of studies based on opinion. Just grin, smile, laugh, that’s my opinion.
God loves us and his opionion’s the only one that counts.

  31. bill on February 2nd, 2010 8:27 am

He may want to check with Keith about one of those cut here tats, seeing how he like to cut people.

  32. hey on February 2nd, 2010 8:03 am

  33. bill on February 2nd, 2010 7:23 am

No brains and a knife, what a combo pack.
