“Snowfall totals are expected to range from perhaps nothing at the coast to six more inches north of Atmore.”

I don’t like the “perhaps nothing” part of that… *pouting* ;)

I lived in Maine for 7 yrs and the first time I drove in it I went to stop and went to the other side of the st and said how did I get here, slid right through that stop sign. Our power lines can’t handle to much weight so you may want to put sleeping bags on the kids beds in case power goes out. The big trucks should have the rd clear before we get moving.I have a sled I plan to take my grandkids out and if it doesn’t slide down our little hill I pull them on it with a rope. What can I say I’m a redneck. No matter what have fun even if it is only a bucket full.Hey come on over and we will have a snowball fight.

Hey, just a reminder to be careful on the roads if it does accumulate. Snow can be tricky to drive on if you dont know what your doing… just prepare to take extra time to get there and drive a little slower if/when the snow accumulates.

William; I’m still going to hold you at least partly responsible for this aggravated assault from the weather. In case you haven”t noticed our weather has been horrendous since you dragged the ducks out for an early morning snapshot.

I would love for it to snow! I’ve never seen snow in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  11. AL on February 11th, 2010 3:24 pm

concerned… don’t be so cynical. It has snowed before and we still have grass and trees. In fact, in ‘93 I dont’ remember losing any of my fruit trees.

I do hear you on the outside pets though… too many folks think a furry coat is enough and in reality it isn’t, especially wet fur.

Long term? I will have photos and videos of kids seeing snow for the first time (if it snows) , kids will remember having snow days and snowball fights (I still tell people about scraping snow off of the hood of a car in order to have enough for a snowball!).

If people drive like idiots in the snow, they will do it in the rain or sunshine as well… so lighten up and enjoy!

I love all the comments. Enjoy the snow. I just hope Pensacola is having great weather in March, as we are heading there for a week. I am live in Minnesota, and about now we are getting pretty sick of the snow :)

  13. concerned on February 11th, 2010 3:16 pm

I know the snow is so beautiful but we dont seem to understand the long term problems, besides the fact that we dont know how to drive in snow it can kill our grass and trees because they are not cold weather plants, plus all the animals that are left outside tofend for themselves…. Please take precautions and enjoy carefully……try to think long term not just the fun it brings at the time….

  14. Old days on February 11th, 2010 2:46 pm

99% of the people here have no idea how to drive in snow. Heck, they can barely drive in the rain.
Best advice is to stock up now on your groceries and medicines and anything you may need in case the power goes out.

  15. AL on February 11th, 2010 2:31 pm

I am more excited than most of the kids in town! :P

I would love for it to snow. My daughter has never seen snow and she is 14. She is so excited. We all are, it has been a long time for us all. It is time for us to be kids again.

  23. Randy Rowell on February 11th, 2010 10:08 am

Yall should be here in Dallas Texas. We are under a blanket of the white stuff and it’s still falling. I too hope it snows there in Escambia County. My kids will love it!

  24. Lynn on February 11th, 2010 9:06 am

Having snow down here makes the kid in all of us come out! One of the problems though is that most of us don’t have footwear suitable for the white stuff. I’ve heard that you can put plastic bags over tennis shoes to keep them from getting soaked, but the plastic could also make you slip, slide and perhaps fall, so be careful. Also, driving can be extra challenging, so everyone needs to SLOW down and keep a carefrul watch if driving in these conditions. The best rule is to stay home if possible. Also, for several days we’ll have to watch for “black ice”, as the moisture will melt during the day and then freeze at night as the temperatures drop. You can’t see the black ice, so you can be in trouble in an instant, without any warning at all. So my advice is to stay home, make a snowman, have a snowball fight, and just enjoy watching your kids experience this rare event!!

  25. Mom on February 11th, 2010 8:36 am

    I sure hope is snows!

  26. whitepunknotondope on February 11th, 2010 7:25 am

    WHAT?!!!!

  27. Angi on February 11th, 2010 7:14 am

I hope it snows, my daughter has never seen the snow and I would love for her to be able to see it… However it’s always messy once it melts, but hopefully if it does snow, it will stick and stay for a little while…
Still wondering if the schools might be closed though…

  28. JKS on February 11th, 2010 6:47 am

I would be thrilled with it if it wasn’t for Valentines flower delivery on Friday… which may or may not be done!
