(Updated 11 a.m.) An 18-year old from Perdido was killed in a single vehicle accident in Nokomis, Ala., Saturday afternoon.

alafata.jpgPatrick Bryan Jay, 18, was  was pronounced dead after the accident just before 4 p.m. Saturday.

Jay was a passenger in a 2008 Honda Civic driven by Tiffany Brooke Parker, 16, of Bay Minette. Alabama State Troopers say Parker was westbound when she lost control, ran off the road and overturned into a tree shortly.

Parker was taken by the USA Medical Center in Mobile by LifeFlight. She was listed in serious condition Sunday evening.

Jay was not wearing seat belt, and speed was believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to troopers.

This boy was a twin and he and his brother both were good kids. In school, they never really talked except to each other and always did as they were asked, were very polite, just real good kids…it’s such a loss to our community, but mostly his family…nobody could have asked for a well behaved, considerate child. His twin, Timothy is especially in my prayers, he will feel this loss forever, they were each other’s best friend. My sincere condolences go out to his whole family….

“N” you are so right. I wish people could see and understand the importance of wearing seatbelts.
Maybe William could do an article about the importance of “Seatbelt Safety”
and also about “Child Safety” as well.

My heart goes out to every one involved in this. What will it take to get people young and old to use seat belts. I know that they are not a total answer in a wreck—but they make the odds of surviving much better.

I really hope this does not become a competition on who knows this family, who lives next to them, who came upon the accident, and so on…..BUT for us all to know that this family needs our prayers, a kind word, and lots of love.
I cannot even imagine what they must be going through but will keep them in my prayers.

I have have known the parents of this child since they were children themselves. It is so wrong for children to die ahead of their parents. It is not the natural order of things. Remember every person grieves differently. Give each other space and pray, pray, pray for help. Keep looking for good things in life. You will always hurt and you will eventually quit crying rivers of tears from your eyes, but tears will always be in your heart. Anyone who tells you differently have never had a child to die.

    To the family:

We as the family of a love one who left us over 3 yrs. ago at 21 in an accident, pray that God sends comfort to you at this time. No amount of words fill this void and ease this pain! The Lord will see you through and strengthen you as you need it. As a mother to another mother, time does not help, but it helps us learn how to cope. God Bless You and keep you.
