sebbring11.jpgThe driver of a convertible is facing  DUI charges after he escaped serious injury in a single vehicle rollover accident Friday night in Oak Grove.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. in the 600 block of North Highway 99, just south of Eubanks Road.

heidbrederdakota2.jpgDakota Rhue Heidbreder, 22, of Muldoon Road, Pensacola, was charged with driving under the influence by the Florida Highway Patrol following the crash.  Heidbreder was headed south in a Chrysler Sebring when he lost control in a curve, ran off the road, struck a driveway culvert and overturned. The vehicle landed off the roadway in an upright position.  Heidbreder, who said he was wearing his seat belt, refused to be transported to the hospital.

Heidbreder was being held in the Escambia County Jail on $500 bond  Saturday morning.

The Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue, Atmore Ambulance and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash.

The accident is still under investigation by the FHP.

This is a bad spot for anyone to drive on . If you are not aware of the curve you can loose control fast. I wish something could be done to warn drivers beside the sign at night they are hard to see even for someone that does not drink and drive.

Yet again another drunk driver on the hiway… He is very lucky to have made it out of this accident alive by the looks of this vehicle. I am really glad to know that he did not cause an accident with someone else. I feel that if you want to consume alcohol, you need to do it at home and stay at home; or if you are out then you should always have a designated driver. Luckily no one was killed… You people that feel the need to consume alcohol need to think of what could happen to you and/or someone else when you’re driving on the hiways under this condition. Give your keys to a responsible person that you know to get you home… DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!

I hope this young man learns his lesson.
He made a very foolish decision while his judgement was impaired.
Dakota should have had his drinks at home and stayed there.

Now begins the “school of hard knocks”.

Again…glad the boy is OK…Why does alcohol make people stupid…a few months in jail is better than eternity in HELL..maybe he will learn

Well, at least the wheels still look good and the tires have air in ‘em… oh, and he and everybody he passed is still alive.

Why not call this a wreck instead of an accident?

No bodies lack of judgement here. Just a grown (although immature) man demonstrating his stupidity.

I wonder where all the defensive people are; you know the ones who say ‘we weren’t there’ and ‘he’s my cuz’ and ‘it was his mommy’s car’?

Take his liscense away for life, end of discussion.

I think DUI should be a 1 time deal. Get caught, and you should never drive again.

Thank you FHP for locking him up. The boy ought to be thankful he didnt hurt or kill somebody innocent…much less himself.
