Century Makes Decision On Computer Support Services

April 27, 2009

The Town of Century has decided to pay for computer support on an as-needed basis rather than paying monthly for contract services.

The lowest cost proposal the town received for ongoing computer support was from Southern Computer in Atmore. That contract would have cost the town $500 up front and $299 per month for offsite backups and two hours of support time per month.

The higher initial fee, Mayor Freddie McCall said, would have paid the company to check out the town’s 10 computers and make sure they were current on software and antivirus updates.

For now, the town intends to pay for computer help on an as-needed basis, and they will consider a yearly contract at budget time.
