Woman Arrested For Elderly Abuse

A Cantonment woman was arrested Tuesday on charges that she abused two elderly patients under her care.
Crystal Dawn Watts, 28, was arrested Tuesday by law enforcement officers from the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with assistance from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with two counts of battery on a person 65 or older, a third-degree felony. She was a personal care assistant formerly employed by Homestead Village Retirement Center. Watts was released Tuesday from the Escambia County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Investigators with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit began investigating Watts after receiving information from the Florida Department of Children and Families Adult Protective Services, according to the Attorney General’s Office. The investigation revealed that Watts used a pillow to cover the face of an 86-year old patient in her care for approximately 30 seconds, which left the patient gasping for breath. On the same day, Watts pushed an 87-year old patient multiple times, causing the patient to bruise, the AG’s office said. She was fired from the facility shortly thereafter.
If convicted on both counts, she faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The case will be prosecuted by State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit.

If anyone thinks for a minute that this demon and problem child will ever spend a minute in a prison ,think again. She will be back on the street. Before you can blink your eyes. She is going to get her just reward some day . For people such as this run in to the wrong person at the right time. So it is like child abusers. Soon or later it will happen . Gonna reap what they sow. This is a wicked person to take someone defendless and abuse them in such a manner. Prison is really to easier punishment for her. Maybe putting a pillow on her head until she losses her breathe and then bring her back too for another go at it. It just makes me angry that people like this should get out of this so easy. There should be a prison for people like this and let them mental and physically and sexually abuse each other.

I hope everything that she has done to these helpless older people comes back on her in prison! A lot them can’t speak for themselves or express themselves. I hope no one will listen to her.

They need to lock her up and throw away the key for good, maybe put a pillow over her face to make her see how it feels to struggle to breathe… I have no use for people like her….

The two groups in our society that aren’t capable of defending themselves against abuse are the elderly and children. My blood pressure explodes when I read stories like this one. I hope she is sentenced to the maximum penalties allowed by law.
