Pensacola Christmas Parade Canceled

December 12, 2009

Rain  forced the cancellation of Saturday’s Pensacola Christmas Parade. The parade will not be rescheduled.

“On behalf of the committee, I appreciate the time and effort put forth by the participants to ready their floats, marching units and bands for the City of Pensacola’s Christmas Parade. I am disappointed that the weather did not hold up, but I am looking forward to a wonderful 2010 Pensacola Christmas Parade.,” said Bruce Wolfe, chairman of the Pensacola Christmas Parade.

With most of the parade’s expenditures utilized before the parade takes place, securing port-a-lets, insurance, walkie-talkies, etc., no refunds will be offered. However, discounts for next year’s entries will be provided, organizers said.

The Pensacola’s Christmas parade normally draws about 50,000 people to the downtown Pensacola area. The Pensacola Christmas Parade profits go to local high school band booster organizations to assist in the purchasing of uniforms and equipment and funding of travel expenses.

I am very saddened that the parade was cancelled and not rescheduled. I am even more upset at the fact that the money raised goes to band booster organizations when families already pay top dollar for their children to participate in these organizations. We are parents who have experience this with our children in Tate’s band. This money really should go to families in need this time of year. There are so many needs in the pensacola area that could help so many people.

    Thank you Karen :)

And, how wonderful, if all those who take His Name had Him truly ruling and reigning in their lives, for all of Pensacola to see, and desire to emulate!!! How wonderful if all those that took His name really knew Him, and knew Him personally, not just as another religion, bound in the traditions of men.

At 1 o’clock the ground is wet but the sky looks dry. I’m really looking forward to hearing the Bible Baptist Church marching band. They also have singers who carry their Bibles and hold signs with Bible verses. The Bible Baptist Church childrens’ float has a giant Bible on it – can’t miss it.

What an awesome reminder to Pensacola that Jesus Christ is the Word and came to earth full of grace and truth!!!

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
