Radio Station Owner, Personality Charged With Child Sex Abuse

December 17, 2009

A radio station owner and personality was arrested Wednesday after being indicted on two charges of sexual abuse of a child under 12.

bowenupdate2.jpgWalter John Bowen, 67, was charged with one count by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and one count by the Robertsdale Police Department. Authorities said Bowen knew the victim, but they were not a relative. One incident was reported to authorities in August, and one incident was reported months before. Bowen was arrested after a Baldwin County Grand Jury returned an indictment against him.

Bowen remains in the Baldwin County Jail on $75,000 bond.

Bowen, owner of WNSI radio, was known to station listeners on the station’s morning show as “Walter Jay”. His arrest came Wednesday morning during that morning show. WNSI-AM is licensed to Robertsdale, while WNSI-FM 105.9 is licensed to Atmore.

He’s had the station at least 8 years for sure but think it is more like 10…maybe longer.

I’ve heard it said that eventually all your wrong doings in LIFE will catch up to you and hold you accountable. I could say much more on that with him, but will just leave it at that for now.

What I am wondering is, why is he just now being charged and arrested for this crime in December 2009 if it took place in August 2009?

Call it like it is. My apology, you are right, not all lawyers are bad people. I do know a few I have high regards for as well as a few Judges. But I just can’t see any joy in defending a true criminal: But Jesus did.

Thank goodness!! Does this mean we won’t ever have to listen to Grady L ever again?! I sure as heck hope so! What little bit I’ve listened to this station that is all you hear, it is terrible!!! Maybe when he gets to the big house the other prisoners won’t have to be subjected to it!!

Couldn’t they have at least waited until his show was over? Nothing worse than an on-air arrest, and dead air space.

Wow Bill! Tell me– when you are in trouble and need help because you may have done something wrong or accused of something wrong.. unless you have a law degree, who’s going to defend YOU???? Generalizing people under one heading is ignorance. I’m married to a crimanal defense lawyer and I resent your opinion of most all lawyers being “whatever” YOU don’t want to say. The attitude such as yours helps make this society what it is today; going downhill! May you always abide the rules so no lawyer has to defend your rights.

Brattbrat, I agree, but here in the US you get charged, arrested, locked up and then you can pay a lawer or a @WW#E@##, well maybe it’s better not to say what I think of most lawyers. Then you can go before the Judge and most of them were lawyers at one time or another. You get the drift, its foul.

Innocent until proven guilty, Char!!!!!!!!!!!! If you were not there you don’t know what, if anything, happened. Lots of innocent people are charged with things they didn’t do!!! IF he’s guilty then yes, he should be thrown away for life!!!
